Alaska Airlines 2 Roundtrips from San Diego Earns a Free Roundtrip (California Residents Only)

A former high school teacher that I’ve helped with Alaska Airlines travel in the past points me to this offer:

California residents must register prior to flying, and fly two roundtrips between San Diego and any of the following cities.

  • Boise
  • Boston
  • Fresno
  • Honolulu
  • Kahului (Maui)
  • Lihue (Kauai)
  • Los Cabos
  • Monterey
  • Orlando
  • Portland
  • Puerto Vallarta
  • Santa Rosa
  • Seattle

Qualifying travel must be completed by November 20, 2013, and flights credited to the member’s Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account.

Alaska Airlines will send out a discount code “on or around December 20” if you meet the terms of the offer. You can only earn one roundtrip ticket, valid between San Diego and any Alaska Airlines destination — redeem by January 31, 2014 for travel between January 7 and November 15, 2014. The free ticket will incur taxes so expect to pay ~ $19.

Fairly lucrative for those in San Diego or who may find themselves in San Diego, especially if they can establish California residence, since of course this is on top of regular frequent flyer mileage-earning.

  1. Hmm, I’m intrigued by this because I do live in San Diego. I’ll have to see if I can find cheap enough fares to make this worth scheduling a couple extra trips purely to take advantage of this.

  2. The terms say “W” class must be available to book–so that means there must be award space, right?

  3. Seems Fresno is the cheapest at $80 x4 = $320. Seems reasonable to use for any flight (?) in the future.

  4. SAN-Monterey is $94. Works out well for me. Worth an extra $14 to avoid Fresno.

I’ve been wanting to tour San Diego for awhile now and I caught a cold just before my last scheduled road trip there a few months back. I find it so difficult to get past the Orange Curtain when sitting in traffic in my car. These flights will make the trip easier.

Ten years since my last mileage runs with Alaska Airlines when I earned 140,000 miles on $800 in 35 flight segments on five tickets. I redeemed 100,000 miles for British Airways First Class to Europe.

My account had been inactivated when I tried to sign up for promotion yesterday. Alaska Airlines said it would be $75 to reactivate my account and get my 3,400 miles back.

I now have a new Alaska Airlines account number with 0 miles.

  5. They had a great Black Friday sale from SAN to HNL for $150. Anyone else experienced 737-800 overseas? I’m not sure I’d want to fly that on any but a jumbo, if they even offer those any longer. For years United flew all 747’s and most others had primarily widebodies on that route.
