Does Your Credit Card Make You Feel Sexy? One Bank Wants to Know

Ben from One Mile at a Time once described his favorite benefit of the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card as “how sexy the card is.”

Since it’s heavier than most cards that came before it, with numbers on the back, it just looks different and stands out. It makes a statement.

The Platinum Card from American Express takes that a step further, it’s now all metal.

Wells Fargo is now asking customers whether you tingle in special places when you use their cards. They ask cardmembers to rate their agreement with these statements from 1-10 in a recent survey:

  • I get a feeling of happiness when I use Wells Fargo credit card
  • Wells Fargo credit card gives me a real thrill
  • Wells Fargo credit card adds joy and pleasure into my life
  • I feel more attractive when I use Wells Fargo credit card
  • Wells Fargo credit card helps me be more powerful in life
  • Wells Fargo credit card adds a sense of adventure to my life
  • Wells Fargo credit card helps me become the person I want to be
  • Wells Fargo credit card helps me be a better parent
  • Wells Fargo credit card helps me be closer to the people I love.
  • By choosing Wells Fargo credit card, I am doing something good for the environment.
  • People seem to admire that I have a credit card from Wells Fargo
  • I feel I belong with other people who use Wells Fargo credit card.

Wells Fargo says they’re just trying to rebuild trust with customers after the scandal of opening card and bank accounts without customer knowledge, and even charging fees to those customers who neglected accounts they didn’t know about.

The company hired to do the survey says they’re asking these questions “to create a more relevant experience.”

Due respect to Wells Fargo, most of their card products aren’t particularly good. Far be it from me however to tell folks that they shouldn’t get affirmation wherever they can, however.

  1. This. Is. Hilarious. Don’t we already know the answers? Does anyone feel “a real thrill” when using any Wells Fargo product?

I have an idea: Rebrand. It’s the perfect time. Maybe people will get a real thrill when using their new, all-metal WF Bank Panzotopanzanite World Elite MasterCard.

  2. Fuck Wells Fargo!! Period!! 12 million fraudulent accounts!! There need to be indictments of the upper management and the board of directors. Better yet…..let’s break up Wells Fargo…or take one of their most lucrative departments. The credit card division. No small changes…big ones! This bank like the other big five should be broken up. Go take your business to a local community bank or go to a credit union. Credit unions are usually member-based. Not fee-based. To hell with Well Fargo.

  3. They have the worse product change policy. “Sure we can change without pulling your credit. We will close down your current account, and open a new one.” WF was my first credit card, and I’ve been trying to switch from their platinum visa to the Cash Wise card. At least they let me add 1x points to each purchase, but I barely use this card.

  5. I know how and why they did it and yet, Wells Fargo’s conduct still shocks me! (Not their credit card!) WF opened a zillion fraudulent accounts to those who could least afford it, and w/o their knowledge or informed consent, and then stuck them w/a substantial monthly fee.

5,000 tellers (minimum wage workers no doubt) got fired cuz they did as they were told. The so-called clawback for those “kings/queens” who came up w/this insane policy means the knowing evil doers still get to keep tens of millions of dollars—-which is so much better than going to jail.

Wells Fargo makes the tobacco companies look like good guys. Sad.

  6. Hmmm just got denied twice today when trying to using my AMEX Plat.. not sexy at all!!!Glad I still carry my CSP arround…

  7. The only thrill I’ll ever feel about WF is when every employee including management that mandated opening a fraudulent account or actually opened the fraudulent accounts is convicted of aggravated identity theft – you know, like any normal person would be.
