• Jury still out on revenue-based frequent flyer programs

• American is now offering complimentary liquor in economy on flights to and from Tokyo Narita, has the same Japanese meals as Japan Airlines on flights to Narita, and is in the process of rolling out reciprocal VIP customer handling with JAL (ConciergeKey members get arrival, departure, and connecting assistance on certain JAL flights in Tokyo and later this year at Osaka).

• 3000 free points for joining Angkor Air’s Angkorwards program

• United will get a $1.5 million refund from the TSA. They mistakenly paid for other airline passengers whom they carried during irregular operations, and overpaid due to currency conversion errors. They filed incorrectly, and after several years sued for a refund of the overages.

  

• Emirates banned from adding new China routes for a flight traveling ‘at the wrong altitude above Urumqi’ and for another flight losing radio communications around the same area. China is touchy about its airspace as much is reserved for the military.

• Hotels want New Yorkers to narc on their neighbors who Airbnb out their places
