Icelandair is offering business class between the US and Reykjavik from $740 roundtrip. I frequently see US East Coast – Iceland for around $1800 round trip. This is a much better fare, and deep discounts are available even from farther West (Seattle, Denver, Vancouver) where prices are generally higher. And the great thing is this deal is even available during summer, which is a great time to visit Iceland!
Business class is akin to domestic first class with foot rests and extra legroom. Their business class lounge for the return flight is excellent. A limited-recline product is more than decent enough for the short flights from the East Coast, Boston – Reykjavik is the same distance as Washington Dulles – Los Angeles. From Seattle or Vancouver I’d want something more comfortable. However business class for the price of economy? I’ll take it!

Great find! Thanks for sharing. Looks like IcelandAir A credits 125% of miles flown to AS, and for me as an MVP Gold 75k, I’d earn 250% of miles flown (~18k AS for SEA->KEF RT).
I was considering using this as a cheap way to get to Europe in J, however, prices from KEF to the continent aren’t cheap in summer ($300-$400 RT in Y, ~$250 OW in Y), and award ticket prices on those routes aren’t really so great either (for instance, you can’t fly KEF->LHR for 7.5k BA Avios). I’m afraid much of the savings from buying the cheap business class ticket would be lost when you consider the not-insignificant cost of continuing on to western Europe.
If this flight would’ve gotten you to DUB or LHR at this price, it’d be a lot more useful. I guess beggars can’t be choosers! 😉

Actually this fare in J, just to Iceland, is excellent. Economy is usually way more. More importantly, Iceland is a great destination on its own! I would not want a stop-over in Iceland, to get to Europe. I think most people feel the same way. The free stop-over was an old way for Icelandair to get traffic.

I’m sad Kansas City isn’t included in this. Could have been a game changer for the MCI market I think.
