Chase Just Introduced a Brand New Marriott Credit Card

I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).

Chase has just introduced a brand new no annual fee Marriott card, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold(TM) Credit Card.

It currently offers 50,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening and earns 3x at Marriott properties, and 2x on other travel purchases. The card comes with Marriott Silver status and has no foreign transaction fees. Perhaps most importantly, despite having no annual fee it still offers 15 elite qualifying nights each year.

No annual fee card options with better points-earning has been in vogue the last couple of years as card issuers market to customers with potentially less spend who may not be willing to pay a fee for the best rewards. For instance Citi offers the no annual fee American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card (10,000 AAdvantage miles and a $50 statement credit after spending $500 in purchases within the first three months).

I like the new Marriott Bonvoy Bold(TM) Credit Card as an option. The existing Marriott Bonvoy BoundlessTM Credit Card is a better product. It offers 75,000 points after $3,000 spend in 3 months and earns via spend at a faster rate. And I believe the annual free night award after each account anniversary (for properties that require up to 35,000 points for the night) is wroth the card’s $95 annual fee.

However if you get the Marriott Bonvoy BoundlessTM Credit Card and don’t agree with me on that then requesting a product change to the Marriott Bonvoy Bold(TM) Credit Card in order to continue receiving annual elite night credits is a great new possibility to have.

Naturally Chase’s 5/24 applies to the Marriott Bonvoy Bold(TM) Credit Card.

  1. Thank you for posting this! I have been waiting for this to dip my toes in Marriotts water!
Now I can start earning points with Marriott to further a birthday trip for my husband. Also, see if I want to get the next step up card with an AF. I only got a small credit limit though on it. I was approved right away.

  2. If you have an SPG Business or Consumer card, you can’t get any bonus. Why do they keep coming out with all these Marriott cards then? I lost count. I never had an actual Marriott card, but since they bought SPG I guess we’re out of luck.
