Dubai Now Offers Taxis Inside the Airport

Dubai International Airport has launched a new “TaxiDXB” service making “hailing a taxi” possible inside the terminal. So far offered just in Concourse B, the airport plans to expand this “to other concourses in the coming months.”

In fact these aren’t ‘yellow cabs’ the way we might think of taxis in the U.S. but rather “a fleet of 15 eight-seater buggies” which pick up passengers on both the arrival and departure levels of the concourse, and also just let passengers hail them as they go by.

Notably taxiDXB is free and is intended to take passengers to their gate, to restaurants inside the airport, or shopping.

The design of DXB’s concourses is very linear, which some customers told us they found hard to manage when they have to reach a gate at the opposite end but lends itself perfectly to a closed-loop buggy service
