American Express created ‘Small Business Saturday‘ – the last Saturday of November – in 2010. This used to come with big marketing spend on cardmembers whether discounts or bonuses. Underlying the effort is an attempt to underscore that American Express is accepted broadly. They want small businesses to know they can accept American Express, and consumers to know that small businesses do.

This year’s Small Business Saturday features a pop up lounge in New York – for Platinum Card® from American Express and Centurion cardmembers only: Platinum House.

  • Dates: November 30 – December 1
  • Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM daily
  • Location: 5 East 17th Street, New York City

Everyone who visits receives a Small Business Saturday tote bag, and the event features:

  • Specialty cocktails and protein beverages
  • Gift wrapping
  • Signed books from Elaine Welteroth
  • Food from American Express Global Dining Collection restaurants, Cote, Wayan and Legacy Records

If you find yourself near Union Square Park the last weekend of November – after Thanskgiving and peak holiday shopping time – and you have a Platinum or Centurion card it could be worth a stop in.
