Each year, usually over the summer, Hyatt consistently offers a rebate to their co-brand credit card customers on points redemptions. And the annual credit card summer redemption promotion is back (registration required).
The World Of Hyatt Credit Card cardmembers receive 25% of redeemed points rebated on eligible awards redeemed at their ‘independent’ brands JdV by Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt, and The Unbound Collection.
- Stays (awards, points and cash), upgrades, or dining and spa redemptions June 15 – September 15, 2021
- Register between June 3 – August 20, 2021
- Earn up to 30,000 bonus points rebated per transaction
The Ins And Outs Of The Promo
Checkout date is what matters for being within the promotion dates, so it doesn’t matter when you redeemed your points (if you have a stay at an eligible brand during the promotion period you don’t need to rebook).
The terms say that you won’t receive your bonus points until 6-8 weeks after the redemption stay, but in the past points have come quite quickly. Interestingly you can register after qualifying redemption stays and still get the points from those stays.
New World Of Hyatt Credit Card cardmembers can still apply for, get approved and register for this offer within the timeframe specified and be eligible for the rebate. In other words, this isn’t limited to pre-existing cardmembers.
Less Generous Than What Hyatt Has Offered In The Past
In summer 2020 Hyatt offered up to 25% back on awards (15% back for all members plus another 10% back for co-brand cardmembers). Then they extended the offer for the rest of the year.
Each year, generally in the summer, Hyatt has offered co-brand cardmembers a rebate on points redemptions. 10% rebates have been most common, though in 2015 Hyatt offered nearly 5 months of a 20% rebate.
This is a bigger rebate than we have been offered in the past outside of 2020 which was a unique year. However it is the first time we’ve seen the summer co-brand cardmember rebate offer limited to redemptions at specific hotel brands within Hyatt.
There are 16 currently open JdV by Hyatt properties. There are 55 currently open Destination by Hyatt properties. And there are 16 currently open Unbound Collection properties. Together that’s less than 10% of the Hyatt footprint where this summer’s cobrand cardmember rebate can be used. And that’s before we get into the capping of rebates per redemption.
