A man posted a video to TikTok where he cooks a steak in a Delta lavatory. He puts a Sterno can in the toilet, lights it, and places an aluminum grilling sheet over the seat. Then he puts the raw steak on the sheet and pours white wine over it to marinate (perhaps it’s an old steak he’s trying to hide the spoiling flavor on, a good piece of meat should never require this!). He plates it and returns to his seat. There’s no question he should be banned from the airline, and probably charged with a crime if this really happened as-shown, for lighting a fire in the lavatory.

Southwest Airlines retweeted this, but subsequently deleted their tweet.
We have no words. Other than please don’t even think about cooking a steak on one of our flights.
In another since-deleted tweet, Southwest says that the video’s maker says this is all a stunt and ‘fake’.

The idea is way worse of course than making a grilled cheese sandwich using an iron in your hotel room. But would you believe this isn’t the worst thing I’ve seen in an airplane lavatory?

Cooking steak in the potty is the least of Delta’s worries. Going out of business should be drawing more attention than than the typical idiocy that these articles reveal.

Traveling lately has certainly seemed more “megabus” lately. I wont even say greyhound. But hey at least all my upgrades are clearing.

Out of curiosity, what is Delta’s punishment for smoking in the loo?
I cannot imagine that Delta is unable to discern the identity of this guy. This reminds me of the social media videos people made where they licked ice cream and then put the container back in the supermarket freezer. Once the law started punishing those people, the videos stopped. Delta will have more of this unless they put a stop to it.
Is that a steak or a rump roast
Does this mean they have cameras in the lavatories and we’re being filmed while we’re using it?

Safety First. To avoid the fire danger of a flaming Sterno can from careless passengers reheating their dinner in the loo, Delta Airlines should consider installing microwave ovens in all first-class lavatories. This would help differentiate Delta Airlines’ aircraft toilets from their competitors and, offer savvy air travelers an excellent reason to justify paying more for Delta One premium service on transcontinental or international flights. However, I don’t recommend cooking a Japanese Wagyu grade A5 Beef ribeye steak in an aircraft microwave as this succulent steak has a lot of fat.
Great job by TSA, letting the guy on with Sterno.
An onboard fire is one of the worst things that can happen aboard an aircraft. This guy should be jailed for life for this extreme example of reckless endangerment.
Why didn’t the lavatory smoke detector go off?
Remember 2006 when TSA banned lighters on planes and in luggage? I was a smoker then had to sneak my lighter into various places in my luggage. Smokers would leave their lighters outside the airport in the smoking area for others to use. It was so hard to find matches when buying cigarettes. No one was giving out matches then like they did in the 70s.
Flight attendants did not notice anything strange about this?
