Chase Ultimate Rewards is dropping Emirates as a transfer partner. October 15th is the last day to transfer from Chase to Emirates Skywards.
Seeing Emirates transfers disappear for a time from both Chase and American Express, following the announcement of a devalued transfer ratio from Citi, suggests a move by Emirates rather than by any one bank.
Emirates has instituted a ~ 20% increase in miles required for premium cabin awards on many non-stop itineraries to and from Dubai, while so far leaving connecting itineraries and fifth freedom routes unchanged, though that could change. This was done with no notice, and after already raising business class award pricing earlier this year. But they aren’t done, according to the airline.
You’ll use fewer miles flying Emirates business class roundtrip than you’d use Delta miles on a business class one way to Europe. And fewer miles than United or American charges, while avoiding the draconian fuel surcharges that American AAdvantage passes along on British Airways itineraries.

Emirates offers great award availability from a variety of U.S. destinations, however fuel surcharges (which depend on the destination flown) are often very expensive and premium cabin awards are priced at 2x coach for business class and 3x coach for first class.
