Delta has unveiled its new Distinctly Delta uniforms for 65,000 employees — featuring Missoni-designed scarves and ties, Bombas socks, and a revived wrap dress from the airline’s early-2000s look. The collection begins wear testing in 2026 before rolling out systemwide in 2027.

British Airways retracted their guidance requiring female cabin crew to wear white bras to go with the new sheer blouse included with their uniform after union objections. This follows similar past controversies over uniform-related ‘sexualization’ and contrasts with extreme practices at airlines like Malindo Air and Kuwait Airways, where female applicants were asked to disrobe during interviews.
Social standards have evolved. Who is flying is different in the airline’s telling, it’s less corporate travelers and more leisure travelers. So it may be appropriate to update the airline’s image – something many other airlines are ahead of American on. And that’s something that will be taken up for flight attendants as well as passenger service agents.
American Airlines is cracking down on flight attendants who aren’t wearing their uniforms correctly, or who violate the carrier’s appearance standards. A message went out from a flight service manager to flight attendants earlier this week. It announces a goal of 100% uniform compliance, and warns that flight service managers will be in airports conducting checks and to write up crew.
