The hotel keeps guest vehicle keys in a safe, but it seems to be one of those cheap consumer-style safes you might buy from an office supply store, because it runs on a battery and the battery died. It likely also has a master key, but that wasn’t available. As a result, no guest could get their vehicle.
Hilton’s tagline is “For the stay.” That implies that you check-in, and aren’t going anywhere. Your car though? Not so much. At the Conrad Orlando it harkens back to an older slogan: “travel should take you places.”
A hotel valet stole a guest’s Audi RS7, only to be carjacked at gunpoint while off the property. The stolen car was later found abandoned and completely destroyed, highlighting the bizarre and dramatic ordeal.
A woman went down to valet parking at the Homewood Suites Austin Downtown and gave what she said was her room number. She was sympathetic. She explained that “she had lost all of her belongings” in the nearby bar district the previous night. The valet believed her story, and gave her the car she asked for.
