News and notes from around the interweb:
- Trip report upgrading an Air France business class award to first class. Since Air France limits points redemption for first class to mid-tier elites and higher, and now only allows redemption for the elite themselves, we don’t see enough trip reports. But cash upgrades at the airport as possible.
Oh and by the way here’s a reader’s story earning miles on their first class buy up on an Air France business class award. In all they netted 20,000 points.
- People roasting this idea in the comments obviously don’t know about earning points for rent payments at no cash cost with the Bilt Mastercard, not doing so means giving up potentially 50,000 points per year using this no annual fee card. And all of the criticisms center around the generic and obvious that you shouldn’t be playing with credit cards if they make you spend more, or you don’t pay off your bill each month.
I shouldn’t need to say this but unless you have a high credit limit and a good credit score, DON’T DO THIS. pic.twitter.com/5XAmf2Yjc4

- How the government’s attempt to stop JetBlue from taking over Spirit will go down:
Federal judge says trial on government lawsuit against @JetBlue’s acquisition of @SpiritAirlines will start Oct. 16, be limited to 9 a.m.-1 p.m. “and will take no longer than 20 days.”

- Putting crew rest space into narrowbody aircraft as the Airbus A321XLR hopefully comes online soon, as we see more long haul flights that no longer require widebody aircraft. That way they don’t have to take up a seat in the cabin that they therefore cannot sell to customers. It’s usually something we only see on widebodies:
- This is not how airplanes work. Really.
@ Gary — AF First is the world’s most overrated first class. I prefer CX, LH and LX.
@Gene – I rather agree with you that it is the most overrated, but I’m not sure I prefer Lufthansa and Swiss to be honest
@gary – firstclassjerk is mostly satire content
@wutlol – and i found it funny 🙂
I flew AF business last year, and found it much better than Iberia and the DL One flight I had on return (which was a much much older plane). AA business is typically not a bad product for transatlantic flights.
AF business is really my favorite TATL business class. La Premiere is very nice, but unless you are using the CDG La Premiere lounge, it’s not a lot different than other onboard F products. I think BA first (and the Concorde Lounge) are underrated.
