Website Leak: Alila Hotels Start Joining World of Hyatt on Tuesday

It was only just October that I broke the news that Hyatt would acquire Two Roads Hospitality and the Thompson, Destination, Joie de Vivre, Alila and tommie hotel brands.

Already Hyatt has been integrating properties. Most of Thompson Hotels joined World of Hyatt March 28th. Then on May 14 Hyatt integrated 14 of the 18 Joie de Vivre hotels into the World of Hyatt portfolio.

The brand I’ve been looking forward to though is Alila. The Park Hyatt Hadahaa in the Maldives first opened as an Alila property. Ventana Big Sur, while perhaps not in league with the Post Ranch Inn, still seems an idyllic stop along my dream to drive a 1966 Cobra down the Pacific Coast Highway.

Alila Uluwutu, Bali

Alila Hotels beta website says that their properties are in the process of joining the World of Hyatt program ‘through July 17.’

Most Alila properties are in Southeast Asia, along with India and China, and will make for incredible redemptions. Let’s just hope Hyatt isn’t temped to slot several into category 8, which is supposed to be reserved for SLH hotels!

Each hotel joining World of Hyatt is listed alongside a joining date ranging from June 25 through July 16.

Joining June 25:

  • Ventana Big Sur
  • Alila Solo
  • Alila Seminyak, and Studio at Alila Seminyak
  • Alila Ubud
  • Alila Villas Uluwatu

Joining June 26:

  • Alila Koh Russey
  • Alila Bangsar
  • Alila Manggis
  • Alila SCBD Jakarta

Joining July 15:

  • Alila Diwa Goa, and the Diwa Club by Alila
  • Alila Yangshuo
  • Alila Jabal Akhdar

Joining July 16:

  • Alila Fort Bishanarh
  • Alila Anji
  • Alila Wuzhen

It doesn’t appear from the site that Alila Purnama (cruises) will be joining.

Update June 24th: Hyatt tells me “At this time, the following properties will not participate in World of Hyatt, due to unique circumstances with systems integrations: Alila Jakarta, Alila Yangshuo and Alila Purnama. Members will not be able to earn or redeem World of Hyatt points, enjoy World of Hyatt tier status or other benefits at these properties.”

2000 Bonus Points

Hyatt is offering 2000 bonus points for your first eligible stay at each of these four brands completed by December 31, for a maximum of 8000 bonus points. No registration required.

Stackable Free Night Offer

You’ll also receive a category 1-4 free night (valid for 180 days from date of issuance) if you complete an eligible stay at each of these four brands by December 31. No registration required.

Of course we don’t know when Destination Hotels will actually join Hyatt so that could be difficult to do. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a promotion whose terms require members to do something that depends on a hotel chain securing contracts and performing IT work in the future.

What makes this interesting though is that if you stay at all four brands by December 31 you’ll earn 8000 total bonus points and a free night.

And Hyatt also offers a free night for every 5 of their brands you stay at. Four new brands makes it easier to earn these nights, adds an additional possible night to earn, and stays towards the new brand bonus offers also count towards the ongoing free night for every 5 brands offer.

Are you looking forward to redeeming points, and enjoying elite benefits like breakfast and upgrades, at any of these hotels?

  1. I’m not that excited. Already been told by Hyatt Twitter team that Globalists are not eligible to get free parking on award stays at some of these newly added brands (I’m looking at you Thompson hotels). So just not wild about any additions until I see them fully implemented with all the normal benefits.

  2. I guess these deals make Chase points more valuable for Americans. That said, how often are you likely to be able to use these properties? I’m usually in Asia a few times a year, and it’s probably going to take me a while to get to a Alila hotel (assuming the redemption levels are even any good).

  3. What are the four brands to get the 8,000 points and the free night?

Is it Alila, Thompson/tommie, Joie de Vivre and Destination? I’m assuming Thompson and tommie are merged for that basis, though Two Roads considered them different “brands.”

  4. @PJ Yoo please share more details, which hotels? The terms say Globalists on award stays where parking can be billed to the room get the benefit. it doesn’t include exclusions and I’d like to look more into this.
