Point stretchers discount award redemption by 40%. They’re offered mostly at properties during their low seasons or when they otherwise expect quite low occupancy. Just as paid rates go down, when a point stretcher is available point rates go down as well.

That’s especially worthwhile on shorter stays. For stays of four nights or more there are discounted awards for co-branded credit card holders and for HHonors elites (which even includes silver members, and you only need to have one of their credit cards for that). For instance, I recently redeemed for a 5-night resort stay and the redemption was 20% offer (32,000 points per night instead of 40,000). Of course, had the hotel been on point stretcher, it would have cost only 24,000 points per night.

The list is organized by brand (so you have to search one brand at a time) and then geographically within each brand.

Personally I’m most interested in the Conrad properties, and Bangkok is discounted much of September and October. Cairo is participating all of June, August, and September. There’s probably a very good reason why not July, though I’m oblivious to it, and perhaps they expect the world to feel safe there again come October? Conrad Miami redemptions are discounted much of August of course that means going to Miami in August. Still, it’s a pretty nice property and they have plenty of ‘suites’ since they really didn’t finish the hotel before it became a bad idea to try to sell condos. Sadly Hong Kong, Sanya, and Koh Samui aren’t participating at all.
