Virgin Velocity is offering a status match for residents of Australia. Anyone with an Australian address and elite status in a program other than their partners Air New Zealand, Delta, Etihad, Singapore, and Virgin Atlantic, can be matched up to the equivalent tier in the Virgin Velocity program — including their top Platinum tier.
To be eligible for the Promotion the applicant must be or become a Velocity member and send to statusmatch@velocityrewards.com.au their valid Velocity membership number along with a legible copy of their frequent flyer membership card (or most recent monthly statement) that clearly shows their current elite status level and expiry date.
Virgin Velocity’s elite benefits are interesting, Gold members get Gold status with Hilton and Platinum members get Diamond status with Hilton. Apparently the status lasts six months and extends to a full year with four stays.
Virgin Velocity status is valid for 12 months from the time of the match. Once matched, you log in to request your hotel elite status upgrade, and Priority Club status can be chosen instead of Hilton HHonors.
Interestingly, Virgin Velocity Gold and Platinum members have access to Delta Skyclub lounges when flying Delta same-day.
Almost makes one want to move to Australia. Me, I actually do have family there that I could move in with, though since I’m already a Hilton Diamond and get Delta lounge access via credit card that seems unnecessary.
Do you get your Hilton Diamond via the Amex Surpass $40k spend, as I believe you are already top tier in a couple of other hotel programs?
@Carl bingo
Though little help for virtual movers, DJ offers a benefit to high elites that I really like: 4 guaranteed round trip (return) reward seats on any DJ (or even international partner destinations) once per year. You have to book at least six months in advance. This would be a very welcome benefit here in the States … and would probably help endear one’s entire family a bit more to the frequent flyer’s carrier.
Does anyone have a Aussie address that my wife and I could borrow to get this status match (for the Delta lounge benefit)? I can easily create a Velocity account with a fake address, but in this case, we will actually need a legit one with someone friendly on the other end to get the membership cards that are sent in the mail.

I’m willing to trade something for the hassle.
Hmmmm….
I have friends in Sydney. Perhaps they can “host” all of my friends here for $10 per year in their condo, similar to all of the corporations operating out of PO Boxes in the Cayman Islands.
Not practical, in my mind, but an interesting concept.
I spend over $75,000 with AMEX yearly and AMEX
Canada never offers juicy “anything” like AMEX
USA. Diamond for $40,000 — great deal!
AMEX Canada — stop being so passive and start
making great deals like the US.
Scott I live in Sydney and can help you out. My email is shanyewoods@hotmail.com
How do their tiers match up? I would only be interested in platinum for the Diamond benefit, but am unsure what this correlates to on other airlines.
I ditto what Scott requested. Shane, I did sent you an email to see if you could help two folks out. I run a nonprofit and some of these benefits would save us SO much money in the coming year. My email address is multiculturalscholars@gmail.com for Shane or anyone else that might be willing to take a chance. 🙂
Can’t wait to see how well this works out for those who do it (myself included).
Looks like my DL status doesn’t get me anything, although I am currently living in Australia short term:
3. Members from frequent flyer programs of our our following alliance partnerships frequent flyer programs are ineligible to apply: Air New Zealand, Delta, Etihad Airways, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
What are the chances there are any other kind souls out there that live in Australia and are willing to help me get the Velocity promo?

I live in San Diego and Sydney; a week ago I joined their program and provided a copy of my United 1K Million Mile Flyer card; they upgraded me to Platinum status
Im not having a status at any program at the moment.
So there are two questions in this post, first:
any idea, how i could get one? as high as possible? as cheap as possible?
second question is: anybody willing to share his adress in australia with me?
