  1. Dont forget if you go through the skymiles shopping portal you currently get another 5 Delta skymiles plus the 40 on the promo plus whatever miles or points card you use.

  2. Still thinking about this for Delta, but wow, a $14.95 service charge on the end of something that was a “Free Delivery” offer seems kind of steep. The points will liekly get the best of me though. 🙂

Having spent nearly $2,000 total with 1800flowers and FTD in 2011, I’d say both companies have jems and duds. I’d recommend buying items from both FTD and 1800flowers that are “Florist Delivered” instead of “sent directly in a gift box”, but that doesn’t mean that the boxed flowers are crap.

I gave my Fiancee 2 separate orders from flowers that were part of the FTD Luxury Collection, and she loved those more than any floral arrangements she’d ever received in her entire life— and these were “Flowers in a box.”

Something to consider though is that the “flowers in a box” do require a little labor in removing them from the box and putting them into a vase. So if you’re sending non florist delivered flowers to an elderly person, or someone that doesn’t have dexterity in their hands you might want to stick with the “arranged by a local florist” flower arrangements.

Be careful what you order though, since items with an asterisk symbol [ *] listed on the first page when you link to FTD on a mileage earning offer mean that certain items are ineligible for earning miles.

  4. Also true with FTD miles taking 2-2.5months to post for American Airlines.

Miles post usually within a month, sometimes quicker… sometimes within 2 weeks for my experiences with 1800flowers and American Airlines.
