United Terminates Qatar Award Space From Their Website Early

Wandering Aramean catches that United has pulled award inventory on Qatar 3 days early. 

Just weeks after Qatar award space became bookable on the united.com website, it was announced that the United-Qatar partnership was ending and awards would be bookable through September 14 (for travel until the end of schedule as of that time).

But in July most phone agents started refusing to book awards on Qatar saying the partnership was over. Availability continued to persist online, and finding a phone agent who knew how to book the space was extremely difficult. (When you booked it online, you still had to trust that it would get ticketed).

I set up a Qatar award reservation on the United website over the weekend. But Qatar space no longer shows up there at all. Period. And agents remain as clueless as ever.

It’s not September 15th yet, we’re still supposed to have time to book these awards, but it may simply no longer be possible.

  2. Booked my last 4 transpacs away from United. Other folks in my company are doing the same, even though most are in the Bay area. Sad.

  3. Well this sucks. I did manage to book one over the weekend bu planned on making some last minute changes to the routing on Friday night.

  7. was on the phone with their India call center folks at around 10CT, and the guy told me the inventory is probably outdated despite the website shows it. Surely enough, 2 hours later, it went dead. United, WTF? What time zone are you guys in? Oh wait, the HQ is in Chicago, like me. Well, what sh!t are you smoking?

  8. It is back again; wasn’t a crazy nefarious plot, but certainly was unfortunate timing. Only a few hours left in the partnership so if you’re in the market now is the time to act.

  9. As of today , I just checked and it’s still showing Quatar awards avail from Europe to Asia on the United site.
