- Alaska Airlines is phasing out ‘combi’ 737s that fly primarily intra-Alaska routes in favor of all-cargo 737s. Instead of trying to do passengers and cargo work with the same aircraft on the same schedule they’ll tailor flights appropriate to each mission.
The five combi planes have flown around the state — Seattle is the only stop they make Outside — since 2007. Each has space for 72 passengers in the back half of the plane and 6,000 pounds of cargo in the front. …They will be replaced with three Boeing 737-700s, which will be converted from all-passenger planes to freighters.
I had to fly home on Spirit so ditched my bag in the ladies room and wore multiple layers. I bought the bag at a thrift store so it was cheaper to ditch it. BTW nylon jackets are light and great for stuffing pockets.
Most extreme for me was when the security post at the Changi Budget terminal tried to enforce the 7kg carryon limit. I just unzipped the bag and started putting on clothes in the security line until he gave up! Only had to wear the extra clothes for ~50 ft anyway, when I could take them back off and put them back into my carryon bag- silly rule…
Why can’t the stewardesses dress in bikinis during the flight 🙁
