American is closing its LAX airport terminal 4 lounges to complete renovations, which will bring about a refreshed Admirals Club and a Flagship Lounge complete with sit down Flagship Dining facility for first class passengers only.
However before the closure happens in a week and a half they’re going to open their new terminal 5 Admirals Club. This is the former Delta SkyClub. They’re planning to offer their New York JFK flights from terminal 5 because those flights (and customers) are a priority for American.
The terminal 5 lounge isn’t open yet, and to the best of my knowledge the airline hasn’t given tours. But Bill Anderson decided to check it out while waiting for a flight in terminal 5. He walked inside and took a video so you can see it for yourself.
His stealth mission to bring a sneak peak of the new Admirals Club took less than a minute.
The lounge looks great! Although of course the next few months before the terminal 4 lounge renovations are complete it may be crowded, and won’t be super convenient to all customers.
Once the full LAX lounge project is done though the whole thing should be magnificent, especially since business class and mid-tier elites flying international (and mid-tier oneworld partner elites) will have access to the Flagship lounge which at JFK looks fantastic. The Chicago O’Hare Flagship lounge (without Flagship Dining) opens mid- to late-September.
It doesn’t look like much has changed from when it was a skyclub?
Same design and features. Bar and food service counter are the same. The biggest changes are the use of AA furniture and far fewer seats than when it was a SkyClub. Far far fewer. DL had them pretty well packed in there, and sometimes it was tough to navigate your rollaboard through the crowds. I predict that more chairs will be coming shortly and any “open” feeling will be replaced.
Yup, the old Delta SkyClub with a new logo on the back wall, a fresh coat of paint and new furniture, and that is about it from what I can see.
Basically looks the same. They will def need more chairs. Checked it out this morning and the computer monitors were there all wrapped in plastic.
