A flight attendant fell out of the left rear cabin door of a China Eastern Boeing 737 on the ground in Shenzhen as the plane prepared to depart for Kunming on Monday.
According to AvHerald the incident occurred while the flight attendant was attemping to close the cabin door.
She reportedly “suffered scratches and bone fractures” after falling onto the tarmac.
One Avherald commenter notes, “Same thing happened to a FA with WestJet in YTH back in 2001. Factors were no platform at the door, wet floor and FA not following SOP’s.”
Flight MU5762, the daily 11:45 a.m. departure, was delayed until 2:33 pm and flew with a replacement crew member while the injured flight attendant was transported to the hospital according to a statement from the airport. Hopefully the flight attendant recovers quickly.
Ouch, maybe the airlines need to spend more time during training on this topic.
Why is the door open without stairs there? If there were stairs there originally then why were they taken away while the door was open?
