News and notes from around the interweb:
- Last week Aeroplan restored access to awards on most Star Alliance partners where they had been unable to issue tickets. LOT Polish remained an issue, but that’s been resolved and now awards on LOT are bookable again.
- When I saw “How the New Air France KLM CEO Hopes to Avoid Future Strikes” my only possible thought was become not French?
Copyright: radututa / 123RF Stock Photo - Southwest Airlines flight diverts to Washington Dulles, before flying to National airport. I used to take United scheduled flights from Washington Dulles to Baltimore… This was how United used its Dulles hub to compete in the BWI market, a service operated by Jetstream 32 turboprops which ended a week prior to 9/11.
- You wouldn’t know this was possible from United or American, but the 737 MAX can be a good passenger experience. In fact COPA is installing lie flat seats up front.
- Someone is installing fake power outlets at airports
Whoever put up this fake sticker of an open outlet at the airport, you are now my enemy for life. pic.twitter.com/TYEJKmY6Zg

- Washington Dulles spent like a drunken sailor a decade ago, and its high costs are one reason United considered putting its hub there on the chopping block. But subsidies from the state of Virginia and funds transfers from National airport have pushed down airline costs. Now the airport authority is selling unused land it owns to push down costs further still. This corrupt airport authority shouldn’t have been hanging onto the land in the first place.
Did you know that the airport itself was built by condemning the homes of African Americans?
COPA routinely publishes excellent J fares from North America to South America, but 6+ hour red-eye flights in a recliner are less than desirable. Upgrading to lie-flat seats on their MAX could make them a great option (assuming they don’t greatly raise fares).
The fake outlet is hilarious, though I would be similarly infuriated if I needed one and was taken in by it.
Fake power outlets? Well… I plead the fifth. 🙂
@Gary: Mismatched link on “was built by condemning the homes of African Americans?”.
The linked article discusses if United is going to kill it’s Dulles hub.
Those Dulles so called busses are so archaic
I have never had a problem findibg a real outlet I the lounge , unless I am near the telephone talkaholic
Somebody put those fake outlet stickers in North Station in Boston too, where for some inexplicable reason, they REMOVED all the power outlets a few years ago.
