News and notes from around the interweb:
- One airline is giving cabin crew advice on how not to get kidnapped when they work flights to Venezuela.
- The Air France Joon brand will fly its last flight in late June.
- Passenger got caught arriving at Atlanta airport with 3 pounds of cocaine and wasn’t arrested.
- Qantas will stop issuing paper boarding passes as part of its conservation efforts. By the way did you know that 40% of US recycling has been getting shipped to China, but much is now being burned because China has stopped accepting it?
The Qantas Group aims to remove 100 million single-use plastic items every year. Some 45 million plastic cups, 30 million cutlery sets, 21 million coffee cups and four million headset covers will be replaced with “sustainable alternatives” by the end of next year.
- Sneak peak inside Paine Field from Alaska Airlines which starts service there March 4.
- United and Expedia are still locking horns in court. Ultimately United wants Expedia to sell the airline’s tickets to site visitors, and Expedia doesn’t want passengers to have to avoid their sites because they don’t have United flights as part of their flight search. They currently have a deal in place that runs through September. Expedia manages to work with other airlines too. So this is likely just jockeying for negotiating leverage, a deal should ultimately get done.
- Customer satisfaction scores for American Airlines Miami-based flight attendants. (There are really just two things American wants flight attendants to do.)
Miami based @AmericanAir flight attendants have improved customer service scores over the past 3 mos., according to this chart sent out this week. The only category that declined? Pre-departure beverages. Everything else improved, including eye contact, smiling and friendliness. pic.twitter.com/v920aaKEI8

Why would anyone in their right mind wants to kidnap a flight attendant in Venezuela, yet alone any flight attendant in the world? That seems kind of stupid to me. Anyone who takes time to kidnap a flight attendant is definitely stuck on stupid in my personal opinion!
@DNN
Exactly. It’s not like they work for large, usually foreign companies with access to cash, an incentive to avoid bad publicity, and probably kidnapping and ransom insurance. Why would they want to kidnap those people instead of regular people?
Definitely stuck on stupid in your opinion.
Can somebody explain to me why I should ever use Expedia?
@ DNN
Venezuela is a socialist paradise where the people are starving, so kidnapping a wealthy capitalist worker will bring in thousands of dollars. So you can buy food or toilet paper
Perhaps the dems New Green Deal can bring this level of depravity to the US.
Some of those flight attendants that fly the AA MIA-CCS route deserve kidnapping! They are a bunch of b$&#ches
How will this work for flights where customers get SSSS? Don’t those flights always require paper boarding passes?
