News and notes from around the interweb:
- TSA records detailing alleged sexual assaults of travelers at security checkpoints (HT: Toqueville)
- Through June 25, Virgin America is offering a 60% bonus buy Virgin America points. Here’s what I said about their last buy miles bonus. The program is pretty good for redemptions on their airline partners.
- TSA body scanner lobbyist takes a job with Congressional committee that oversees the TSA budget (HT: Shawn O.)
- A Singapore A380 Suites trip report, with a twist: it’s by a doctor who had to respond to a medical emergency onboard when a fellow passenger’s heart stopped.
- Delta’s Skyteam partner Kenya Airways will be getting a government loan. Despite activity in the country by al Qaeda-adherent Al-Shabaab, Delta CEO Richard Anderson does not call for protectionism against the airline, because 9/11.
- Etihad reported its fourth straight year of profits. Though up substantially year-over-year, that’s off of a small base, operating margins are only 1%.
- Bank of America checking account opening offer of 25,000 Alaska Airlines miles
- United’s ‘un-manned’ flight: a 737 delivery flight with only women onboard (HT: Reid)
- Lesson for miles and points collectors in here somewhere: If you’re ever being blackmailed and need to pull $3.5 million in cash out of banks, there are two lessons we can learn from former House Speaker Denny Hastert: just take the funds out, don’t structure withdrawals to avoid financial reporting requirements, and don’t lie to the FBI about your structuring activity. Can’t the government just leave blackmailed former corrupt politicians be?
I feel so stupid for continually falling for your posts with attractive titles that turn out to be useless. Not only did I waste my time clicking on this, but I had to read thru the next two articles to find out:
“Eligibility: Offer only available to customers who receive this offer via a direct communication from Bank of America”
If you have gotten this targeted offer, you don’t need to read this post. If you haven’t gotten this targeted offer, you don’t need to read this post. 🙁
@Robert Hanson if you read through you’d have learned that in the past this restriction hasn’t been enforced. If you don’t find my posts worth your time there’s a simple solution.
anyone successfully receive the bonus without being targeted?
