Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains.
They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night stay in a 3-bedroom luxury apartment in Knightsbridge, London for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.
Folks who already know about these auctions won’t like the added attention, because frankly there aren’t enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go too cheap.
Here are some great auction values ending soon:
- 2 Nights At Bayview Resort, Hamptons, New York — as I write it’s at 101 British pounds.
- 7 Nights In A Luxury Travelopo Villa In Mallorca — £340.00 really???
- 3 Nights At Hope Town Lodge, Bahamas — £105.00 right now, no reserve.
- 7 Nights For 8 Guests At Villa Russelia In Rhodes, Greece, check out this current price…
- 7 Nights At Hotel Marinedda Thalasso & Spa, Sardinia, interested in Sardinia but think the Starwood options are just too pricey?
- 4 Night Yacht Charter With Kalimba Caribbean Tours, how baller would this be?
Check out the full details on each before bidding to make sure availability matches when you can travel. There’s page after page of auctions to scroll through, generally nice places that regularly appear to be selling for much less than they should.
Prize: a three-night stay in a luxury apartment in Knightsbridge, London at The Ovington Elegance – subject to availability, stay by April 28 (excluding December 25-27, December 31-January, and March 25-26).
The Ovington Elegance is a superb, luxury Three Bedroom Three Bathroom serviced apartments right on Brompton Road in the heart of London’s Knightsbridge. Two minutes’ walk from Harrod’s store and other exclusive shopping in the immediate area and with easy access to Knightsbridge and South Kensington tube stations, The Ovington Elegance has all of the luxury features and comfort you need for your central London stay backed up by London Lifestyle Apartment’s hospitality and care to ensure that you fully enjoy your visit to London.
London, like Paris, is one of those cities where a residential apartment is a great option for visitors. I tend to book hotels because I have so many points, but coming out of pocket living like a local can be uniquely appealing. This property looks lovely and in a great location — and while not cheap it’s a real value for three bedrooms!
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge over other hotels in London. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Thursday, December 3 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment. I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away an apartment stay in London. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
My girlfriend and I just looked through the listings and thought that the 4 NIGHTS AT GANSEVOORT PLAYA IMBERT, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC looked particularly nice, great for a relaxing getaway!

I would love to visit the Carribean, perfect for the 4 Night Yacht Charter With Kalimba Caribbean Tours
We will actually be in London from March 25 through April 5 and have been looking at airbnbs. While we do stay at hotels frequently, London looked like a place we would want to stay like a local. The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge looks like an awesome apartment, something that we would book! Thanks for tipping us off to the luxury travel diary.
The 7 nights in a luxury villa in Mallorca sounds amazing. I think I might bid on it! I also would be delighted to win the 3 nights in London. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world, and I travel there often. Thanks!
I’d love to stay in an apartment in London. What a wonderful way to see the city with my family!!
These apartments look so lovely.
7 nights in Mallorca? Wow, what a deal!! 4 night charter boat in Caribbean! These are incredible.
7 nights in Mallorca sounds perfect!
Staying at the Ovington would inspire me to do a posh-it-up visit to London. My previous personal visits have been very much in the low-down style.
Apartments like this are great for groups of friends travelling together
There are so many items to choose from that are up for auction but I have to pick the “2 Nights In An Under Canvas® Safari Tent In The US” item. Reminds me of the kitchy roadside motels in the 50s and 60s in the American Southwest.
I would stay at the Ovington Elegance instead of a hotel because staying at an apartment would be like staying at home. In the words of Dorothy, “There’s no place like home.”
I like the auction for the six luxury nights in the south of France
I would choose the Knightsbridge stay over a hotel so that I could stay alongside a couple friends and enjoy cooking together and feel more relaxed.
I love the The Ovington Elegance Apartments because you have room to spread out with the family just like home and the kids have their own rooms so we can have some privacy. My wife loves the walking distance from Harrods and the tube.
I’d like the auction item for 2 Nights at Airds Hotel in the Scottish Highlands!
The auction for a stay in Messenia, Greece sounds great! Though I wonder if there is a closer airport or if Athens would be it.
I would really like to stay in the Redwoods cabin in Yosemite, but the blackout dates are Memorial Day to Labor Day. If our work and school schedules didn’t restrict us to just one week in June for vacation then I would surely be bidding on it!!
The Ovington looks great- who wouldn’t want to stay there?
My bestie and I would dieeeeee to check out Bali – it’s on our life list!
5 Nights For 8 In A Luxury Villa In Bali
Never have been to Mallorca!
I love the idea of staying at the Ovington! Who wouldn’t take a luxury apartment, spreading out and being comfy?
The Bayview Resort, a perfect weekend retreat from New York!
The Ovington looks amazing (and close to where I want to be!)
The under the tent safari night!
All roads should lead to Rhodes! Would love to visit.
My husbands parents met in London during the war and we’ve always wanted to visit.
I would love to win a stay at the Ovington Elegance. The full kitchen and large bedrooms in this large luxury flat look beautiful. Very central location and easy to walk to the nearby tourist sites.
My favorite item up for auction at http://www.luxurytraveldiary.com would have to be: 2 nights in a cabin at The Redwoods In Yosemite, California at Black Oak Lodge. Nothing like staying in a beautiful cabin at Yosemite!
I would chose the Ovington Elegance luxury apartment over all the other hotels in London. It looks so luxurious and it is a real full size apartment with all the amenities.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Ovington — I usually stay in a hotel in Knightsbridge/Mayfair when I’m in London, and would love to have a ‘sample” stay there on a trip in the near future. Thanks for posting the opportunity.
My favorite auction listing is for 7 nights at Chalet Rosière. Looks beautiful.
I’ve participated in a few LTD auctions — It’s indeed important to pay attention to the details (date of expiry, blackout periods, and such) as well as to the prospective total cost of the trip (e.g., don’t submit a winning bid for a villa in the Maldives if you aren’t prepared to pay for two RT airfares with money or miles). And, not surprisingly, the bids tend to shoot up closer to true market value as the auction window closes. Still, there are indeed some very attractive offers to be found, and it all makes for a fun read in any event.
Among the current crop of LTD offerings, I think I’m most intrigued by the Kalimba yacht charter. I’ve never taken my kids along for such a trip, and feel confident that everyone would love it. Thanks for offering up the contest.
4 night charter boat in Caribbean sounds nice
The Ovington looks nice and I will be in London early next year, so I could use this.
Mallorca looks like the best auction option for this young, energetic couple!
I would choose the Ovington over other hotels in London because, in this instance, it would be free!
I would choose to stay at The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge over other hotels in London because I think most London hotels are overpriced.
Mallorca looks like a lovely option.
I would visit friends in Miami and then take a side trip to use my 3 nights at Hope Town Lodge, Bahamas if I won that prize.
Ovington looks fabulous!
London would be nice…. The Ovington would make it so.
My favorite is Sardinia
Well, Knightsbridge is the place to be! Thanks for the contest Gary.
No Question, the Caribbean yacht charter is something I would do. before seeing it here I never considered it as an option. It is my favorite.
I would choose to stay at The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge over other hotels in London because of space… Having a whole luxury apartment to live in for a few days beats a small hotel room every time.
Ovington Elegance sounds like a lovely home base for a few days in London, especially with its proximity to Harrods!
4 nights. On a yacht. In the caribbean! Woo hoo!
I would definitely choose the Ovington EleganceLuxury apartments in Knightsbridge over other London hotel. I could take friends or family with me because of all of the extra room!
i think this is the best item for auction…
7 nights at Zoe Seaside Resort in Messinia, Greece!!
