Who Wants a Free $2500 Stay in Bali?

Bali is one of my favorite relaxing places in the world. I go to the Maldives often, but it can be tough to get to and tough to get awards to. When folks come to me looking for French Polynesia and can’t find awards I’ll often suggest Bali.

It’s an interesting place with good food, cultural activities, and some of the world’s friendliest people. And there’s fantastic luxury accommodations available at reasonable prices for those spending US dollars.

Viceroy Bali is a family-owned resort with just 25 private pool villas. It’s in the artistic region of Ubud, so a nice departure from the more sterile Nusa Dua area of Westernized resorts. It’s a TripAdvisor 5-star and 2016 Travelers Choice award winner. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good. In fact, It’s TripAdvisor’s #11 of top 25 luxury hotels in the world.

And I’m going to give away a couple of nights there, with some fantastic inclusions, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.

Luxury Travel Diary is a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK that has a bunch of travel auctions with real bargains.

As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go way too cheap.

Seriously, a hotel night in the Maldives for an auction ending in about 8 hours going for 28 British pounds as of this writing…

Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 2 night hotel stay at the Viceroy in Bali.

What’s included?

  • 2 night stay in a Garden Villa for 2 people
  • Roundtrip airport transfers
  • Daily breakfast
  • One candlelit dinner for 2
  • One couples spa treatment for 2

The hotel lists the value at $2500. It’s being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner. The stay can be taken through July 14, 2017 with July 15-30 and December 20-January 6 excluded.

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, March 4 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: Advance booking is required and it’s subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.

For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Viceroy Bali. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.

I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

You probably won’t fly to Bali and back for a 2 night stay, though you might add onto it and do other things in the region and it’s a great opportunity to spend American AAdvantage miles at just 55,000 miles each way in business class or 67,500 in first class before the March 22 devaluation.

  9. The Viceroy in Bali is the exact offer I swooned over when I looked through the amazing offers at Luxury Travel Diary. To win a couple of nights there would be simply fantastic.

  10. Fav. item: 3 nights at Hotel Tugu Lombok, Indonesia — so I can extend my stay in Indonesia by boarding the ferryboat from ali where you will be sending me.

Also because eveybody says Lombok is now what Bali was in the mid-1960s. And we are all nostalgic, aren’t we?

  11. I think the best thing about a stay at the Viceroy would be the peace and tranquility.

  12. Bali is on my shortlist of destinations, I would add a week of exploring the area to this prize!

I would also love to return to Cambodia for this: Luxury 7 Night Holistic Edventures Retreat In Cambodia Auction.

  13. And as for the Viceroy (this is my second entry!), I imagine there may be someone who speaks Dutch at the reception there, so it will be like stepping back in time.

  14. 2 Nights at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur to get a taste of luxury away from the heat.

  15. I would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali on my honeymoon in 2016 because from my research it is the most romantic hotel / resort in Bali and I can think of no better place to celebrate marrying my best friend.

  16. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is definitely the 2 night in a Luxury Villa at the Viceroy Bali. It sounds like the ultimate getaway of relaxation and pampering–perfect to recharge and unwind. And to do it all in your own private villa in the unbelievably beautiful Bali just puts it over the top. It would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience!

  17. My favorite item up for auction is (of course) the 2 nights in a luxury villa at the 5-star Viceroy Bali!

  18. I’d stay at the Viceroy Bali because your pictures of the place look downright heavenly. Also, the price of FREE-ninety-nine is a great incentive!

  19. OR I’d choose the Viceroy for the Instworthiness of the pool and the view alone.

  20. Also, I’m loving the 4 NIGHTS FOR 6 GUESTS AT VILLA SUNGAI, CEPAKA, BALI on auction at luxury travel diary, because I’ll be in Bali in the coming year!

  21. I would without a doubt choose to stay at the Viceroy Bali. It has every high-end amenity I could even think up for a vacation with absolutely stunning surroundings and accommodations. Few of us actually get to live a life of luxury in everyday life — so to live that way on vacation, even for a few days, would be a treasured experience!

  22. As I was going thru the different items up for auction, I really like that items are available all over the world. One that stood out for me was the “3 Suite Nights At Bond Movie “Spectre” Location, Austria” While planning a trip I wouldn’t think or know about a location like this that was shot in a movie. Plus the low cost of the auction makes it worth while to go out of my way to visit the location.

  23. While visiting the website of the Viceroy Bali, it looks like a really beautiful place to visit. The views of the location look stunning and looks like a place where someone could go to, to relax and get away from everything.

  24. So many great choices but my favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary would be 2 nights at the Argentario Golf Resort and Spa in Tuscany. Wine paired with Golf…what more could I ask for?

  25. I’d choose to stay at the Viceroy Bali due to the location in Ubud and the romantic feel.

  26. My favorite item up for auction is probably the Bond/Spectre stay, which sounds super interesting. Definitely be a unique experience staying somewhere that was in such a high profile film.

  27. That view looking into the dense forest would be one of the main reasons to enjoy the Viceroy

  28. I would love a stay at Viceroy Bali since I’m planning to head there anyway for my birthday next year and don’t have a hotel yet so this will be perfect! =)

  29. Much needed Missionary retreat: My favorite item up for auction is the 2 nights in a luxury villa at the 5-star Viceroy Bali!

  30. I would absolutely love to stay at the Viceroy Bali. I’ll be in Bali in November for 4 days as part of a special 20th anniversary trip/gift for my wife. We’re spending all 4 days in Nusa Dua but I would love to break that up and see Ubud. It would be phenomenal.

  31. We are going to Bali, Ubud, and Thailand for our honeymoon in May and would love to stay at the Viceroy Bali because it would be a private, romantic, and beautiful place to celebrate our marriage.

  34. Would love to stay at the Victory Bali since I’ve never been to Bali and I think this would make the trip truly special.

  35. I would stay at the Viceroy Bali based on your glowing recommendation and because it’s been more than 15 years since I’ve been in Bali.

  36. My favorite auction item is 2 nights at Gili Lankanfushi Luxury Resort in the Maldives. I’d pair it with some nights at the Hyatt in the Makdives using points per your recommendations!
