Bali is one of my favorite relaxing places in the world. I go to the Maldives often, but it can be tough to get to and tough to get awards to. When folks come to me looking for French Polynesia and can’t find awards I’ll often suggest Bali.
It’s an interesting place with good food, cultural activities, and some of the world’s friendliest people. And there’s fantastic luxury accommodations available at reasonable prices for those spending US dollars.
Viceroy Bali is a family-owned resort with just 25 private pool villas. It’s in the artistic region of Ubud, so a nice departure from the more sterile Nusa Dua area of Westernized resorts. It’s a TripAdvisor 5-star and 2016 Travelers Choice award winner. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good. In fact, It’s TripAdvisor’s #11 of top 25 luxury hotels in the world.
And I’m going to give away a couple of nights there, with some fantastic inclusions, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.
Luxury Travel Diary is a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK that has a bunch of travel auctions with real bargains.
As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go way too cheap.
- Here are their auctions
- And here are the ones ending soon which are probably the best to check out right now – to get an idea of just how good a deal you’re likely to get.
Seriously, a hotel night in the Maldives for an auction ending in about 8 hours going for 28 British pounds as of this writing…
Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 2 night hotel stay at the Viceroy in Bali.
What’s included?
- 2 night stay in a Garden Villa for 2 people
- Roundtrip airport transfers
- Daily breakfast
- One candlelit dinner for 2
- One couples spa treatment for 2
The hotel lists the value at $2500. It’s being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner. The stay can be taken through July 14, 2017 with July 15-30 and December 20-January 6 excluded.
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, March 4 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: Advance booking is required and it’s subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Viceroy Bali. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.
I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
You probably won’t fly to Bali and back for a 2 night stay, though you might add onto it and do other things in the region and it’s a great opportunity to spend American AAdvantage miles at just 55,000 miles each way in business class or 67,500 in first class before the March 22 devaluation.
I would choose the 2 NIGHTS AT MESASTILA RESORT, JAVA, INDONESIA from the Luxury Travel Diary auctions because it looks so relaxing.
I would choose to stay at the Viceroy Bali because it’s surrounded by nature, and has a nice pool and decent gym.
I’d love to stay at Viceroy Bali because it’s just a cheap 3 hour AirAsia flight away 🙂
My favorite item up for auction is ‘2 Nights At Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’. Kuala Lumpur is a great city and I’m craving for some nasi kandar.
As for a favorite item up for auction, it has to be the 4 Nights For 6 Guests At Villa Sungai, Cepaka, Bali… What a fun time that would be! Bringing some friends for a magical travel adventure sounds just fine by my book. 🙂
The 5 nights in Maldives at Reethi beach resort would be my favorite, and the trip would make a nice 25th anniversary gift.
I have a bunch of American miles that I’m trying to figure out how to use before the devaluation. Bali would be a great way to do that!
The 4-bedroom beachfront villa in Koh Samui, Thailand courtesy of Miskawaan Luxury Beachfront Villas would be my pick of the litter. Thailand is high on my list of places to go.
I would choose to stay at the Viceroy Bali because it would be the perfect place to spend our honeymoon and explore the cultural arts, temples and green valleys of Ubud.
This would make a great place to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!
My favorite item up at the auction is “2 nights at the 5-Star Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Switzerland,” since Switzerland is on top of my travel bucketlist! 😀
I would love to stay at the Viceroy Bali to relax and unwind in style and luxury!
My favourite auction is the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur because of the great views of the Petronas Twin Towers!
Look at that balcony pool! This would earn some major husband points.
We’ve been trying to go to Bali for some time now, and a stay at this hotel would be wonderful. Just look at that balcony pool!
My favorite auction item is the 2-night stay at the Intercontinental Malta. Sounds wonderful!
4 Nights At Masseria Prosperi, Lecce, Italy looks good
My husband and I spent a few days at the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur last April. Thanks to Hyatt points we had an immense suite with that amazing view of the Petronas Towers.
We visited Bali on the same trip and I’d love to go back. I think the Viceroy sounds divine.
I’d love to stay there because of the commute to/from Ngurah Rai international airport – I mean what’s classier than arriving by helicopter?
My favorite auction item is 2 nights at the Viceroy Bali (again, for the helicopter ride). If that doesn’t count, then it’s the “4 Nights For 8 In A Luxury Beachfront Villa In Thailand”.
Staying at the Viceroy Bali would be a nice/great stay that would give a different perspective from the typical beach-centric vacation. The villas and spa give the sense of immediate relaxation!
The listing for “2 NIGHTS AT THE 5-STAR GRAND HOTEL KRONENHOF IN SWITZERLAND” would be right at/near the top of my list of the auction items I saw. It looks so gorgeous there!
I would love to stay at the Viceroy in Bali because those pictures look incredible! The pool, the spa, the greenery – wow! I feel more relaxed just imagining myself there!
My favorite item up of auction is the 7 nights at Zoe Seaside Resort on Greece. 🙂
The two nights would be the perfect way to end our trip, in September.
Would like the 4 nights for 8 in a luxury beachfront villa in Thailand. Always wanted to visit Thailand.
Also would consider 4 nights at Avantgarde Taksim Square In Istanbul. Istanbul always seems mysterious.
I’d love to return to Malta and stay at the IC.
I would absolute love to visit Bali, enjoy the amazing view of the villa and eat tons of Nasi Goreng!!
I would bid for the Austria James Bond Spectre locations. The pictures look epic, the nature is amazing and the Alpine food is probably delicious. It would also terrific to do some hikes around the mountains.
I would choose the 2 Nights At Hide-Away Guest House In Knysna, South Africa
Bali is on my bucket list and this prize would be great!
I’m not sure I even need to say why I want to stay at the Viceroy looking at the photos. It’s gorgeous! Looks like paradise on earth.
I’m interested in the Mesastila auction since I want to go visit Borobudur and this looks like a lovely place to spend a few days.
My favorite auction is Benvengudo Luxury Hotel in Baux de Provence in the South of France because it reminds me of “A Good Year” – one of my favorite movies.
I would love to enjoy the villa, the incredible view from the pool and eat tons of Nasi Goreng.
I would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali because it looks so different from the typical beach vacations I had in Bali so far.
I would choose the Reethi Beach Resort in the Maldives!
My favorite auction is 2 Nights At Gili Lankanfushi Luxury Resort In The Maldives.
I’d love to relax and unwind at a lovely, family-owned spot in Ubud! Thanks, Gary!
My favorite is the Screebe House in Galway, Ireland. My wife and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary in August and she’s been to my ancestral homeland in India but she has never been to Ireland, where her family comes from. I’m really hoping we can find a way to visit Ireland to celebrate our anniversary and re-connect with her roots.
My favorite item for auction is definitely the 4 night villa in Thailand.
Would love to stay at the Viceroy to try a new and highly-touted property in beautiful Ubud!
The best part about the Viceroy is being away from the beach looking out at the forest. That’s why I’d stay there.
I’d love to stay at Viceroy Bali because, Bali has been in the list for years and the hotel looks awesome.
