Bali is one of my favorite relaxing places in the world. I go to the Maldives often, but it can be tough to get to and tough to get awards to. When folks come to me looking for French Polynesia and can’t find awards I’ll often suggest Bali.
It’s an interesting place with good food, cultural activities, and some of the world’s friendliest people. And there’s fantastic luxury accommodations available at reasonable prices for those spending US dollars.
Viceroy Bali is a family-owned resort with just 25 private pool villas. It’s in the artistic region of Ubud, so a nice departure from the more sterile Nusa Dua area of Westernized resorts. It’s a TripAdvisor 5-star and 2016 Travelers Choice award winner. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good. In fact, It’s TripAdvisor’s #11 of top 25 luxury hotels in the world.
And I’m going to give away a couple of nights there, with some fantastic inclusions, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.
Luxury Travel Diary is a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK that has a bunch of travel auctions with real bargains.
As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go way too cheap.
- Here are their auctions
- And here are the ones ending soon which are probably the best to check out right now – to get an idea of just how good a deal you’re likely to get.
Seriously, a hotel night in the Maldives for an auction ending in about 8 hours going for 28 British pounds as of this writing…
Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 2 night hotel stay at the Viceroy in Bali.
What’s included?
- 2 night stay in a Garden Villa for 2 people
- Roundtrip airport transfers
- Daily breakfast
- One candlelit dinner for 2
- One couples spa treatment for 2
The hotel lists the value at $2500. It’s being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner. The stay can be taken through July 14, 2017 with July 15-30 and December 20-January 6 excluded.
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, March 4 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: Advance booking is required and it’s subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Viceroy Bali. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.
I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
You probably won’t fly to Bali and back for a 2 night stay, though you might add onto it and do other things in the region and it’s a great opportunity to spend American AAdvantage miles at just 55,000 miles each way in business class or 67,500 in first class before the March 22 devaluation.
Gary you must have read my mind because we were thinking of going to Bali and using AA award on CX before devaluation. The Viceroy Bali sound wonderful and a special area of Bali I’m sure we would enjoy. Thanks!
I’d stay at the Viceroy Bali for the tranquility and to get some much-needed R&R.
Following your instructions, I am also answering the auction question, I would pick the Thudufushi Resort in the Maldives which gets spectacular tripadvisor reviews, and besides who can argue with 28 GBP?
Thanks!

My favorite item up for auction: “5 nights half board at Reethi Beach Resort, Maldives” since we love the Maldives and that’s a long enough stay to be worth the trip so long as we stay in Istanbul on the way home to break up the travel some.
I’d go to the Viceroy for the tranquility.
I’d choose to stay at the Viceroy Bali: because I’ve never been, and the property looks stunning.
For the auction, I’d bid on the hotel in Lombok.
My wife Kathy and I are nearing retirement, and are looking at the possibility of relocating to Bali, at least temporarily. We would love to stay at the Viceroy as part of examination of this possibility, and of course, because it is obviously a gorgeous resort. Thanks for you generosity.

Viceroy since I love luxe and never been to Bali.
I’ve been to Bali more or less twice a year for the past 6 years, but never had i had a chance to experience this side of Bali. Not only would a stay at the Viceroy change how I see Bali, but it would really be a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay at a resort like this!

My wife and I are headed to Bali at the end of March, with plans to stay in Ubud for a few nights. The Viceroy Bali truly looks like a paradise on earth.
I would stay at the Viceroy in Bali because I will already be in Bali next month and would love to extend my stay 2 additional nights. Who can argue with luxury for free?
