Lucky pointed out a Delta bonus for transferring American Express Membership Rewards points — a 50% bonus and 25,000 qualifying miles for transferring 50,000 points.
Registration is required, there was some speculation that it would be a targeted offer but if you can successfully register then you’re eligible (I was).
Now, I am not sure that I want to move 50,000 points over even though I’ll get 75,000 miles and Silver elite status. For me, while the British Airways 30% transfer bonus is more appealing I mostly value the flexibility of Amex points and prefer to leave them in my Membership Rewards account until they’re needed.
But if I was a Delta elite already and this would push me to the next tier I’d probably do it.
The promotion runs through December 15, isn’t combinable with other bonuses (hah!), and the bonus miles are supposed to post mid- to late-January.
This is great thanks for the heads up. There is a thread about it on the FT Delta forum. I just transferred in and the bonus and MQM posted immediately, but I did give it 24 hours after registering to make sure the promo showed up on my DL account first. From reports it seems if you transfer before it shows up then the bonus does not post, but then does post once the promo is registered. This just bought me another year of platinum, so in effect I got 95k SkyMiles (50K plus 25k bonus plus I know get option to take 20k plat bonus). And Geff these really are not as bad as you think. I can now take the family to France next summer in J on AF, or even to Oz on Virgin Australia, or even a nice but relatively expensive transcon from ATL-LAX on the 777 Business Elite. Plenty of options to use these miles productively.

@Phil my complaints about Skymiles are comparative, not absolute, and I’ve written often about using them for Air France and V Australia..
Has anyone tried making another transfer of 50k to see if they’ll get another 25,000 EQM’s?

FIne print says that the offer is open only to those “receiving this communication directly from Delta Air Lines.”
If my husband is Silver on Delta already, is it a better use of miles to get him to Gold or me to Silver? He travels for business on short flights and we travel together on longer ones (where upgrades would matter more).
Also, do you know if this offer means you have to transfer 50,000 AMEX points or 40,000 AMEX points since they give a 5,000 bonus for each 20,000 points transfer?

Has anyone tried this twice? I transferred 50k points which got me 75k miles, plus 25k MQMs, so it an it took me to the next elite level. I wondered if we did it twice if it would keep leveling up the elite ladder?
