- TSA will put up signs warning that a “REAL-ID-compliant” ID will be required to travel starting October 1, 2020. That’s not true, since you can fly without ID.
Whether or not non-compliant drivers licenses will still be accepted at checkpoints depends on whether (1) all states comply prior to this extended extended deadline, and if not (2) whether another extension is granted (as seems likely the month before a Presidential election where travelers harassed en masse by the by the federal government won’t play well).
