New and notes from around the interweb:
- Marriott Banana-gate ends in US$363 fine although now the W Marriott in Chandigarh, India could lose its liquor license for serving alcohol from bottles without a state-mandated hologram that’s supposed to insure authenticity and that taxes have been paid but is in practice useless for both aims.
- Cebu Air will squeeze 460 (!) seats into their Airbus A330neos imagine the retrofits if Scott Kirby was still at American…
- Woman woke up cuddling with a snake in her hotel bed in East Memphis at the Hampton Inn Walnut Grove.
- “How Sichuan cuisine conquered the world, from Ming dynasty to McDonald’s sauce that nearly caused a riot”
- Star Alliance banding together on facial recognition boarding they promise it’ll be secure, but why is it Facebook’s privacy practices you’re worried about?
- British Airways now has its first Airbus A350 with business class suites.
I have a trip to Memphis late next week, and this Hampton Inn shows up as the cheapest option for the nights I am there. I don’t have too much of an issue with snakes, but I’ll definitely keep this one on the “perhaps not” list.
The article on Cebu packing in more seats mentions a reduction in seat distance from one another and a reduction of the WIDTH to a low of 16.5 inches. I might be dense at times but what exactly is the benefit of reducing the width of the seats? Pictures show a 3×3 width seat set up so what good is reducing width? Not like they are going to be able to do 3×4. Reducing the distance between rows I get but width I do not.
