United’s April flight schedule is down 60% year-over-year; an 85% decrease for international (and greater than that for transatlantic and transpacific) and a 42% for U.S. and Canada flying.
It’s easier to list the international flights that are actually operating than those that aren’t. Domestically there are a lot of cuts but United emphasizes they’ve only completed stopped flying to one U.S. airport: Mammoth Lakes, California. However we should expect further cuts as United explains, “the airline is closely monitoring demand as well as changes in state and local curfews and government restrictions across the U.S. and will adjust its schedule accordingly throughout the month.”
Here’s the entire transatlantic and transpacific United Airlines schedule for April:

Again, these are the cuts that have been announced for April so far and I’d expect them only to deepen.
No flights to AUA, POS, GCM, MBJ or SXM?
Wow
Crazy how the US is saying to halt non-essential travel, yet if you look at the int’l schedule, United is clearly planning for more tourism demand than business. 3x to SJD, 4x to CUN, etc. while only 1x MEX (I believe normally about the same-ish level of service as CUN).
To add above, even with Spring Break vacation travel in April, it still seems crazy to me.
Thanks so much for this list. I think it’s important in these times to have an idea of which flights are still operating and this is so helpful towards that end.
@Ben, Spring Breakers don’t give a dang about halting their travel. I have homes in both Florida and Mexico (Guadalajara) and I am presently in Florida and seeing how the college students are giving the middle finger to new restrictions on social distancing, etc. There’s been a lot of press lately regarding the attitude of the Millenials during this crisis–morbid as it sounds, the thought is “who cares if Granny dies?” Also, some communities (Clearwater Beach, for example) were reluctant to close down their bars and restaurants because of the revenue loss.
Yesterday my spouse flew from Florida to Houston, Houston to Guad on UA. He said F was 1/4 full, and E was about the same. I hope these airlines are making up for rev loss by carrying a lot of cargo, ie, food and medical supplies, to/fro as needed.
Mexico is just starting to get Covid and the federal government has already taken steps to shut down groups of 50+, schools for one month, elderly (esteemed in Mexico) sequestered in homes, etc. Whether these rules are enforced in CUN and COZ remains to be seen.
I have a flight on March 25th is it still let me know thank you since we are in lock down
Also crazy is that all the counties surrounding SFO are under “shelter in place” ORDERS and United won’t refund tickets to SFO. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
DL and UA had much more aggressive int’l travel than AA and now DL is backing off it’s original plans. I think UA did not cut enough especially with the EU, UK and other countries essentially closed. AA’s oneworld partners are in much better shape than either of DL’s and UA’s (who know Lufthansa had so little cash). I could see global Mega airlines coming out of this: BA/AA/IB/JA/QA would be quit the force to deal with and add in a few extras like GOL and Qatar.
