New Teen-Friendly Hilton Coming To The Maldives, All Villas With Private Pools

Hilton has signed a deal for a new property in the Maldives which is expected to open in 2021, which means that hopefully it will open next year.

The Hilton Maldives Amingiri will be just a 15 minute speedboat ride rom the Male airport, located on ‘Amingiri Island’ within the Male Atoll, and feature 109 villas each with a private pool.

The property’s name isn’t meant to sound like Amangiri, confuse customers, and violate Aman Resorts’ property rights. Instead it’s named eponymously for Amingiri Holdings, a subsidiary of Amin Construction, which owns the hotel that hilton will manage.

Hilton Maldives Amingiri will feature 6 restaurants and bars, including an all day dining facility featuring Mediterranean and Southeast Asian cuisine where breakfast will be served and where they will host theme nights, a champagne and gin bar with sunset views, and a speakeasy for teens,

A teens-only zone where junior guests can gain access through a secret speakeasy-style entrance in the kids’ club. The rooftop deck is a tranquil oasis where teens can relax and unwind. A dedicated bar will serve a curated menu specifically catering to the needs and wants of the teenage traveller.

Hilton already has a Conrad, Waldorf, and Curio Collection property in the Maldives. This new property then will be the lowest-end by brand standards of the resorts, but also the newest, and likely more geared towards families considering the teen facility.

We don’t yet know what award category pricing will look like, or what redemption availability will be – Hilton’s other properties in the Maldives can be tough gets and the Waldorf plays games with its award inventory (despite Hilton Honors protestations to the contrary).

  1. Are the Hilton brand’s standards lower than Curio? I’d guess they’re about equal, especially in international markets.

  2. I hear so much about the Maldives that I’ve always been interested in going – then I read something that scratched them right off the list. Each hotel is basically a cruise ship that you can’t get off. You’re stuck, you can’t explore, there is nothing but the hotel. Yes, it’s all beautiful and the pictures are stunning, but when I go somewhere, the hotel is for sleeping, not the end-all be-all of my vacation. I want to find that special spot, see the local people living their everyday life, wander into a local cafe or hit up some street food. I do not need to spend two days traveling each way, burning who knows how many reward points to get there, plus who know how many points on a hotel, only to be stuck with a massive bill on overpriced food and drink that essentially covers my hotel bill.

I swear, the Maldives are talked about so much only because the people who do so get some sweet comp for doing so. I consider every article about them an advertorial. No thanks.

  3. Great, now kids can be as bored as the adults. The deserve it, the little bastards

  4. “violate Aman Resorts’ property rights”

You mean “violate Aman Resorts’ intellectual property rights”
