News and notes from around the interweb:
- Steal your kids’ miles: Most U.S. frequent flyer programs don’t allow family members to hare their points for free, although hotel programs do. JetBlue has true family pooling, where you can use miles from multiple accounts for an award. Frontier does as well. And – for co-brand cardmembers only – Hawaiian lets members transfer points between accounts free.
Family pooling is much more common abroad. Aeroplan, British Airways, Emirates, Etihad, , Qatar, Turkish, Qantas, Japan Airlines and ANA all offer some version of family pooling.
Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer has introduced something as well. You get 500 free miles for linking accounts this month, then you can transfer up to 50,000 miles per year from your kids’ accounts to your own. Sadly they charge $5 per 5000 miles, or take 10% of the miles.
- Things are so bad that only God can reduce stress at the Charlotte airport.
- Singapore Airlines will fly Los Angeles – Taipei 3 times a week with an Airbus A350 starting August 25. This is a route they served until 2008. Service is predominantly limited to Taiwanese residents and cargo.

I’m a fan of the airport chaplain, but he needs to wear his mask properly. If I wore my underpants like that…I’d have an entire other set of things to deal with.
