20% Off IHG Reward Nights, New Program Details Coming

I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as is American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). Terms apply to the offers and benefits listed on this page.

The IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card lets you earn 125,000 bonus points + a Free Night after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Card benefits are improving, too.

And from Tuesday, March 22 – April 5, 2022 cardmembers will be eligible for a 20% discount when booking Reward Nights. Plus – a spokesperson tells me – “[a]s you saw when we ran this offer in January, additional IHG Rewards members became eligible for this offer after early access. I’d keep a lookout for the same this time.” So expect this to go broader than just cardmembers.

  • Book by April 15 for stays between March 22 and May 25, 2022

  • This cannot be used in conjunction with the card’s 4th reward night free benefit – it’s “applied for eligible cardmembers booking 3 or fewer consecutive Reward Nights.”

The program is on the cusp of improving, offering new elite benefits (the area where it has been sorely lacking) and word is details are delayed but I’m told that the elite earning structure will go live in April and that’s when they’ll share full details on new benefits.

  1. In other words, the biggest IHG owner-operators pushed back and said no. IHG doesn’t want to lose the properties to Wyndham or Accor, so it’s delaying changes until it can sort things out.

  2. “(a)s you saw…..”
Why is the letter a in parenthesis?
    Asking for a friend…..

  3. Oh Gary, stumbled on your 2013 post (love the archives!) on your history of blogging and how you create and how this site evolved. Fascinating! Also explains your typos and sometimes tortured paragraphs (your fingers outrun your brain). You’re still well ahead on the typos committed by commenters. Thanks!

  4. I have sent a letter to IHG headquarters in Atlanta to complain of “Service Charge” on my reservation. When I asked about this $10.00 service charge, the desk clerk had no answer. I also sent a letter to the Georgia Attorney General’s consumer complaint department. This $10.00 service charge is obviously intended to give the customer the idea that the room rate is lower the other hotels in area…UNTIL you check out. Bait and switch! Buh bye Holiday Inn for me!
