  1. Marriott still has vast portions of the country with no properties. Western WA is just one example. Plenty of Best Westerns, lots of shitty independents – no Marriotts.

  2. Re the reading material on a flight….
What a bunch of whiners. Get your own reading material and. keep your nose out of others choices. Personally, I’m outraged at your outrage. If you are that frightened by flying, then don’t fly.

  3. I’ve given up on hoping that the airlines would actually treat passengers like adults and show them what makes planes fly and how the who ATC system works. If they had a little knowledge maybe their passengers would be less afraid of the experience. But there’s no reason why someone can’t look up this information for themselves. I get it that without some study a person may feel helpless and infantilized, But people can make the effort to understand the systems they are in. On the other hand, this is America. Sitting down, opening a book and making a serious effort to learn something is no longer that common, so maybe that is expecting too much.

  4. Remember when Marriott actually made it a point to try to lure guests with – Le Gasp! – competitive product and service rather than screwing the guest over wherever they can? Sadly it wasn’t that long ago.
