News and notes from around the interweb:
- New FTC proposed rulemaking would give it power to go after fake online reviews Seems unfair to leave TripAdvisor without any content?
- Hertz had the second-highest paid CEO in America last year (NYT) Makes sense if he was paid per arrest?
- Goldman Sachs bled over $1 billion in credit losses on its Apple Card product, and wants out of the deal. American Express could pick up the portfolio.
- Emirates now has inflight exclusivity serving Dom Perignon. They also have an exclusive small batch bourbon from Woodford Reserve served at the business class A380 bar.
- It’s organic…
@AmericanAir just had a flight from Heathrow to Philadelphia and the food provided had live insects in. I'm not mad but if insects are getting into your food easily, I imagine allergens are too. #AATeam pic.twitter.com/0rgRtMDolQ

- Delta was the big winner when the Department of Transportation handed out limited route authorities for Tokyo Haneda airport. But Delta doesn’t want to fly the routes they committed to, and asked to treat those route authorities as property rights and do with them as they wished. Unsurprisingly DOT said no.
They handed out authorities based on consumer benefit not airline benefit. If an airline doesn’t want to operate a route, they can return it, and then DOT can re-assign it to the same airline, or a different airline, based on its view of what benefits passengers most.
- Collision damage waiver.
Giving credit where credit is due, the comic is John Joseph. Great entertainer and a great person as well. He regularly works East Coast, Vegas and cruise ships. My only beef with John isn’t his Yankees cap, but rather that he’s a Deltaholic.
Re: Haneda slots – who said this: “The DOT will rule but chances are high that they will grant DL’s request.”
Looks like that very small chance came true. Gary’s original analysis was dead on.
Re: AA salads on flight to Heathrow. Other than gross, what is up with free added proteins?
Insects.
Come on American Airlines, freebies are not for everyone.
