A Filipino woman applied for a Schengen Visa to visit Italy. This European visa was denied, because authorities weren’t convinced she would leave the country before her visa expired.
She reapplied for her visa, and this time included an e-mail confirmation of future-dated tickets to go see Taylor Swift in Singapore. She shared, “I am not sure if Mother Taylor’s power will work, but lol.” Who’s going to stay in Italy when they have Taylor Swift tickets in Southeast Asia?
Her visa was expeditiously approved.
I received an email that my VISA was processed in just 3 business days. I filed December 21. December 22, 27, and 28 are the processing days. Yesterday January 4, I was asked to visit the Embassy because I needed to sign a document. I thought it was a denial letter. But it was a letter asking me to report back to the Embassy 10 days after the Visa expires.

Sometimes it’s weird what some consular workers take as evidence of a foreigner’s intent to not overstay or otherwise violate the terms of a visa and/or entry to visit. A throwaway and/or transferable concert ticket for a concert in SE Asia really doesn’t amount to much of an investment when looking at making an irregular migration for economic reasons.
I always thought why can’t Central American migrants save up their money then buy tickets to Disney World. Upon getting to the US, they flee to a Home Depot parking lot to get piece meal work and overstay their visa.

Taylor’s concerts in Singapore were some of the most competitive to get tickets. A friend living in Malaysia was 1.5 million in the online queue.
Taylor Swift will also be going to Italy later this summer so who knows the Asian woman might overstay her visa and watch Taylor in Italy after reselling her ticket for SG?
Sadly to many Filipinos have gone TNT (Tago na Tago [Hiding and Hiding]) that visa approval for many developed nations is difficult- even for skilled workers (Nurses/ Doctors) its a long expensive process. Its take 10s of thousands of USD and 20+ years for us to get visas & green cards for her siblings..
Even a visa for a spouse is now a 2-3 year process.
To think they were almost a US territory like Guam/Samoa/PR. They asked for independence and we gave it to them in 1945 (they have a quasi-American form of Government – that we helped establish). If we hadn’t entered WWII they might be speaking Japanese.
I digress – we have only been “Swifted” having to pay insane hotel rates because Taylor added concert dates to Vancouver last month and Sydney this February.
