News and notes from around the interweb:
- Avianca LifeMiles selling miles with 155% bonus through July 11 so just 1.29 cents apiece. I’m not currently a buyer, as I have plenty of miles (including a stash of LifeMiles) but there are really great deals on Star Alliance premium cabin itineraries possible. Remember that the new LifeMiles+ comes with discounts on these awards as well.
- United Airlines adds illy cold brew on board starting July 1. United does generally have better coffee than other U.S. airlines, but brewing at altitude presents real challenges.
Starting July 1, illy Cold Brew will be offered in all cabins systemwide, either for purchase in economy cabins or as a complimentary beverage in premium cabins (Polaris/United Premium Plus).
- Continued pushback on shifting responsibility for Newark air traffic control from Long Island to Philadelphia in the face of continued unwillingness of NY TRACON to certify new controllers as part of gaming overtime which means the FAA cannot properly staff the airspace.
- New York JFK to have the cleanest baggage
- Chief Operating Officer David Seymour: “Just tape it out.”
Hope the taped up airplane window in my row is not integral to the operation of this @AmericanAir flight back to Miami pic.twitter.com/1pZEE9fqaG

- Denver airport is a mess and just doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
DEN: “Another airport train outage, but the airport just says trains are “delayed”. That train on the right has been at platform for almost ten minutes. These are the trains with “updated reliability”.
Many pax missing flight.” pic.twitter.com/3LbzLMm7ZX

- The sad state of the old Thai Airways Royal Orchid Spa in Bangkok now that it’s an overflow lounge without much food or beverage.
The Thai Royal Orchid spa would improve the painting by removing the branch and leaves which are in the way . Who ever heard of a branch and leaves in a room with a girl ?
What is the nearest SkyTeam equivalent to Lifemiles in terms of frequently selling miles/points for under 1.6 cents per mile/point?
