News and notes from around the interweb:
- Drink too much at a Hyatt all-inclusive, your whole party gets cut off Presumably this keeps the rest of the guests from circumventing limits, giving the drunk one more booze.
A person in our party got a bit too drunk and was escorted to her room, we were informed after that it meant that we were all cut off from alcohol for that entire day. …I can understand her being cut off but why was our entire party restricted for that whole day as this trip was part of a wedding package. It felt extremely unfair to everyone else who drank in moderation that day.
The Andaz West Hollywood back in 1966 was the Continental Hyatt House, and earned the nicname ‘Riot House’ in the 1970s. It began as Gene Autry’s Hotel Continental in 1963. Jim Morrison was kicked out in 1966 after hanging from a balcony by his fingertips. Led Zeppelin threw beer bottles and furniture out the windows in 1972. “I am a golden god!” came from Robert Plant’s shouting from a balcony room there. So maybe Hyatt ought to be a bit more tolerant?

- This is just sad of Qantas, a very basic cabin – in an Airbus A321XLR, ‘xtra long range’. Other airlines put lie flat business class seats in. American Airlines even is putting in business suites.
Qantas will be one of the first airlines in the world to operate the A321XLR and ahead of the arrival of our first aircraft next year, we’ve started pilot training and finalised the details of the customer experience.

- ” if you sign up for the Walmart + membership that you can get free through Platinum, that entitles you to 25% off mobile app orders at Burger King. You need to link your Burger King and Walmart accounts to make it work.”

Interesting history lesson about rock bands. Personally, I’m impressed that people at an AI in Cancun are being cut off. Sounds like Florida Man on a bad day with Something To Prove to achieve that.
Thanks for that video about the credit cards. I’d forgotten that in my first job out of college at a travel agency, we would manually imprint the customers’ credit card on the carbon paper charge slips for them to sign AND I would have to call the bank for an authorization to charge their card for the ticket! How far we’ve come!
And yet we still have hotel bathrooms with half a shower door. We need to work on that technology.
Chris: And some companies have been slower to leave that era behind than others . My Amex Hilton card, which expires this month still has raised numbers; the new one does not. My Chase Freedom card good through next May still does.
I’m having trouble understanding the overlap between AmEx Platinum clients and Burger King customers. Also, if you’re paying a $600 annual fee to save money on Whoppers you’re either bad at math or eat way too much fast food.
I’m sure cutting off people drinking responsibly on a package that included the drinks saves the hotel a lot of money. Not only drinks, but when the people go elsewhere to drink it also saves them food and accommodations such as people servicing the room that they would be gathered in. Those wanting to drink a lot will slam drinks the next day if they are available as part of the package. The whole action of cutting off seems like bait and switch using unwritten rules.
You brought back the memory of having the retailer need to look up the card number is a booklet that would get updated.
Floridaman is Cancunman now ! Coño !
Used many an FFN at the Hyatt WH back in the day. Great location if you want to hang out on the Sunset Strip or have a drink up the street at the Chateau Marmont.
