News and notes from around the interweb:
- Woman rides her suitcase to the airport, with another bag in tow. Enroute to Bangkok’s second airport Don Mueang, she apparently was checking her route using her phone’s Google Maps app while she drove.
- I first thought this passenger was handing the bottle of water to strangers heading back to economy, and with the video caption thought “noblesse oblige.” Then I read the rest, he says he’s giving the bottle of water to his own family he’s in first and they’re in coach…
- Gen Z Is Making Fun of Millennials for Booking Flights on Laptops (HT: Jonathan W) Mobile is often slower, and the keyboards aren’t as good as what we had on Blackberry devices a dozen years ago. Who wants to make a typing mistake in the name on an airline ticket?
- Amtrak flexes its legal muscles against host railroads
- Goldman’s Credit-Card Exit Hampered by Lax Lending Standards
- This is why you don’t check bags.
From that point, it is still quite a distance to Don Mueang Airport. I wonder if her suitcase was able to make it before the battery gave out. Most people just take a bus or a taxi. Less chance of becoming a roadway statistic. Busses are available just outside the airport terminal building. A1 or A2 will get you to a BTS terminal. A2 will get you to the bus terminal for longer distance bus rides.
Some airline mobile apps are better than others. Using an airline’s app makes price comparisons less likely. But, the friction-free interface of logging into an app makes for a better user experience. This boomer tends to use vendor apps when I know where I’m going. Alas, I still have to pull out the laptop to book parking.
Well it’s official, we have a new greatest generation. I bet those d day soldiers never booked on mobile either.
I book a ton of airline tickets for myself, my employees, and my clients. Although occasionally it is easy to just book myself a flight through an airline app (the United app is by far the best), in virtually every other case, it is far easier to pull out the laptop and use the full websites and a full keyboard.
Considering the way that Congress has intentionally starved Amtrak for funds they’re doing a pretty impressive job of getting passengers around. Public transport is never a money making proposition so Congress has to put on their big boy pants and fund our national passenger rail system adequately for once.
