5000 American, Alaska, or USAirways Miles for $50

Points.com is offering 5000 American, USAirways, or Alaska miles for upgrading to a ‘Gold’ membership for $49.95. The membership isn’t worth much, but buying miles at one cent apiece is generally a good deal.

There’s no clear expiration date on the offer, so verify that your mileage choice is available before offering up payment.

  1. Certainly that may be a good deal for a travel guru like you but for a person like me who is at the bottom of food chain without any status anywhere, this means $ 250 for 25K miles. I do not see any juice here. Intead of begging for an economy seat with minimal choices, I will rather prefer to spend $250 on most of the flights availible in US of my choice during normal conditions. But as I said earlier, this depends on what grounds you stand. Those who are at a higher ground definately see a better view and are in a much better position to utilize these miles.

  2. the subject offer has been reduced to 2296 mi for alaska; i need 5000 for a shorthop alaska freebe. any ideas for a frugal way to get the 5000?
