There were two blasts and gunfire reported inside the terminal at Istanbul Atatürk Airport today causing multiple injuries, perhaps 40 or more people injured.
Gunfire was directed from an airport car park, according to a witness quoted by Reuters news agency.
Taxis were ferrying wounded people from the airport, the witness added.
Turkish officials told CNN Turk that “at least one of the blasts may have been a suicide attack.”
As with any incident like this, most initial reports are either wrong in key details or incomplete. We do not yet know who did this, why, the extent of the damage or what this will mean for airport operations. It’s definitely a developing story.

My thoughts are with everyone on the scene, and will be tracking developments.
Probably some overzealous Presbyterians.
It’s past time to start doing background checks on purchasers of suicide vests.
The world is a scary place. With an upcoming trip through IST in the not too distant future I have been afraid of this for a while. Condolences to those who lost someone in these attacks.
Turkish goverment is learning the price of playing both sides of the street. Partnering with ISIS to kill PKK but partnering with the US to bomb ISIS from Incirlik and now restoring relationships with Israel.
I live Turkey but given the frequency of bombings in recent times mostly in tourist areas I for one will avoid Turkey ( but not transiting through IST) for the future
