News and notes from around the interweb:
- TAP Air Portugal’s 70s-themed Miami flight
- Alaska Airlines lets people wearing Russell Wilson jerseys cut the boarding line
- In my whole life I’ve never heard anyone describe a Panda Express and a limited-selection Hudson News as “exciting.” Let alone making it the lead item for the summer issue of the LAX Connection newsletter. Panda Express.
- Toronto Pearson airport tackles threat of runway collisions
- The parts convoy it takes to assemble an Airbus A380
- I don’t think this is official American Airlines policy. Unless they were trying to keep from jettisoning the toilet’s contents onto cruise ships in the North Pacific.

Don’t forget that you can usually use the lavatory even when the flight attendant says no.
The arrival of a new Panda Express is definitely exciting news. If all the grease they serve doesn’t lead to mass diarrhea and mind-numbingly odiferous lavs, then perhaps the massive salt content in their entrees will cause FAs to become mid-flight EMTs.
Regarding the “do not use below 16,000 feet”. There may have been an issue with that particular lavatory. I was once on a Delta trans-atlantic flight and one restroom was locked while on the ground due to “pressure issues” or something to that effect. They did let me use it to change clothes though.
The electric pump for flushing was broken. Good news though, above 16000 feet the pressure between the inside air and outside air can be used to flush the toilet. Steve – a 737 captain
A Panda Express really would be a significant upgrade for Terminal 3 at LAX. As I recall the only food there was Burger King.
