Answer two questions that react to a video for 100 free Aeroplan miles.
At the beginning of last year if you wanted 100 Aeroplan miles you needed to accept text messages for it. This is a whole lot better!
Still the video is a minute and a half. And surely it takes a minute and a half to understand and answer the questions. 100 miles are worth $1.40. So you need to value your time at less than $28 an hour for this to be worth it for the miles.
In fact the value of miles varies based on how many you have and what you’ll do with them (and how soon). I see this as purely a mileage expiration avoidance play. As a Starwood Platinum I drop a single Starpoint into my Aeroplan account for this.
Just remember you need to have activity in your Aeroplan account every 12 months or your miles go poof. So it’s hard to have sympathy for Aeroplan that Air Canada would like to see the program itself go poof.
In answer to their questions I said the most exciting thing is that Aeroplan is trying to develop a post-Air Canada vision. The least exciting? This whole ‘experiential redemption’ thing is likely to mean very low value per point.
Miles should be awarded in 6-8 weeks.

We know a devaluation will occur — almost by definition — when they lose their Air Canada partnership and along with it access to Star Alliance awards.
Gary, I was not paying attention and lost almost 100,000 Aeroplan miles. Any ideas on how to get them back?
