The new World of Hyatt program was a change to elite qualification and benefits, not really a change to earn and burn. And a year into that program there’s certainly some consternation, and there’s new leadership running loyalty at Hyatt.
In spite of record hotel occupancy Hyatt is tweaking very little for earn and burn, moving only 9 hotels up or down in category (8 up, 1 down).
It’s important to know though in case you have an interest in booking one of these properties, because we don’t have very much notice: new pricing goes into effect 12:01 a.m. Central time on December 13.
If you’ve booked a hotel that’s going down in category for a future reservation Hyatt says that “Customer Service will proactively deposit the point difference into a member’s account.”
One piece of good news is that there aren’t any hotels moving out of category 1 through 4, and one hotel moves down into that grouping — so that free nights capped at category 4 remain just as useful.
For me this is a total non-event, I haven’t stayed at any of these hotels and have no current plans to either. Although the Confidante hotel looks pretty cool in a retro Miami art deco sort of way and that’s becoming more accessible.

Confidante is good if you are trying to stay at 10 different Hyatt brands.
I’m just happy the Andaz WeHo hasn’t gone up. Considering the cost of properties in LA/WeHo/Hollywood the Andaz at 20,000/night is a pretty good deal (most of the time) and, every time Hyatt changes things around, I’m just waiting for the hammer to fall on this redemption.
Hyatt is scared to make changes after the backlash from WOH.
