Cathay Pacific misspelled their own name on a freshly painted plane.
Apparently the painters doing the job had no F’s left to give.
Oddly there wasn’t just a space where the missing letter should have gone. Someone laid this out with an error, and no one painting it new the difference.
Errors with English language signs and advertising, when people working on them don’t know the language, can pose problems. Like when Pepsi the Choice of a New Generation was translated into Chinese as ‘Pepsi will bring your dead ancestors back to life.’ Or what happened when Purdue Chicken’s slogan got translated into Spanish.
The airline dubbed this ‘a special livery’ while acknowledging the plane would need to go in for warranty work.
Oops this special livery won’t last long! She’s going back to the shop!

“and no one painting it new the difference”. Clearly such errors are not confined to Hong Kong.
LOL NB, I had the same thought.
Not everyone realizes that was a joke, poking fun at my own tendency to make typos on the blog.
PERdue chicken……just sayin’.
I liked the “new the difference “. This whole fiasco reminds me of the old Snickers commercial where this old guy painstakingly makes an NFL end zone, only to have a player walk up to say that it looks great, but who are the Chefs.
@Christian,
My favorite saying when someone makes a mistake is “Great Googlie Mooglie”.
I thought for sure it was going to be “Murican”
“and no one painting it new the difference.”
You hired the same people?
They also do not paint the letters on, they are stickers, high quality etc., but still stickers.
