News and notes from around the interweb:
- Not just US airport security humiliating people (HT: Reid F.)
- An Air France plane carried a US Hellfire missile to Cuba by mistake. On arrival the Cuban government seized it. It hasn’t been returned.
- As Yakov Smirnoff might say, “at CES, suitcase follows you!”
- Delta gets to keep flying from Dallas Love Field (for now) without a lease for a gate after the federal government set in motion a game of musical chairs by requiring American’s gates, used by Delta, to go to Virgin America instead. There’s no reason for the legal limit on gates at Love Field, indeed there used to be more gates, it’s purely anti-competitive. The solution to meeting airline desires for more service there is… more service.
- JetBlue is offering double base points (which therefore count as double elite qualifying miles) for tickets booked by January 31 for travel through March 8. Only tickets purchased after registration are eligible which is always a rule that’s insulting to your loyal customers who have already purchased your tickets. (HT: One Mile at a Time)
- Uber is dropping prices
- The DEA paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to an Amtrak worker and TSA screener to provide them information on passengers the employees were legally obligated to provide anyway. And never got anything of value for the money. (HT: Erik E.)
Is ammon bundy a terrorist or a patriot? How white do you have to be before the government decides not to shoot and kill you immediately but let the whole thing blow over?
