Airbnb Host Who Reportedly Threw Tarantula At Guest Sues For $28M — Calls It Plot To Sabotage Her Senate Campaign [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • An Airbnb host “accused of throwing a tarantula” at a guest has filed a $28 million lawsuit. I had to read this twice. It’s not the guest who filed the suit, it’s the host who reportedly threw the tarantula.

She’s suing the renter, the county, city and police officers – claiming they’re all conspiring to… derail her Senate campaign? Oh, and she was allegedly improperly renting the place out on Airbnb, in violation of her own lease.

  • Visa is going to be getting a lot more detail on what you’re spending money on here’s what Level 3 data means for you.

    [I]t would allow an issuer
more easily to spot the purchase of open loop gift cards (Visa/Mastercard/Amex prepaid gift cards) as cash equivalents (or similar things, like silver/gold bars at Costco). …For category cashback, it may present similar challenges.

  • Southwest Airlines wants to be the anchor tenant in the new Austin airport terminal use agreement. They currently have a 40% share at the airport and want to grow from 10 to 18 gates. It’s been presumed that Delta would take the new concourse gates. So this sets up a fight between the two for who can grow in the future.

Of course it’s also a question of which one can do the gate squatting to keep out future competition, while buying themselves an option for future growth. (Delta, by the way, is expected to take the large new club space adjacent to the midfield concourse gates – Southwest lost out on new concourse space in San Antonio because they did not want a club.)

  • Up to 7,670 American AAdvantage miles and loyalty points for making one DoorDash delivery

  • One new Amex Plat benefit may have leaked out early $300 Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts or Hotel Collection credit twice a year (January-June, July-December) starting September 18. This was quickly scrubbed from the web, but not before it was seen and reported. If final this is a big benefit hint, and also a hint about card refresh date.

  • Net rooms growth?

  1. Since our President does this all the time, it’s no long unreasonable to sue anyone for anything and demand billions of dollars. It’s the threat and intimidation that counts. He/they don’t even want to go to discovery. Mafia tactics. Extortion. Shame on us all.
