They currently have a 40% share at the airport and want to grow from 10 to 18 gates. It’s been presumed that Delta would take the new concourse gates. So this sets up a fight between the two for who can grow in the future.
Of course it’s also a question of which one can do the gate squatting to keep out future competition, while buying themselves an option for future growth. (Delta, by the way, is expected to take the large new club space adjacent to the midfield concourse gates – Southwest lost out on new concourse space in San Antonio because they did not want a club.)

- One new Amex Plat benefit may have leaked out early $300 Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts or Hotel Collection credit twice a year (January-June, July-December) starting September 18. This was quickly scrubbed from the web, but not before it was seen and reported. If final this is a big benefit hint, and also a hint about card refresh date.
