News and notes from around the interweb:
- 500 free miles for joining Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer by February 15 since Singapore is a transfer partner of the big bank currencies their miles are easy to get, and long distance premium cabin award space on Singapore Airlines itself is mostly restricted to when you’re using their own miles.
- I said to expect Phoenix to get less important for American Airlines (as recently as last month). Phoenix flight attendant base loses 700 (downsizing by a third), LAX grows by 700. DFW is growing by 700, St. Louis is shrinking by 75.
- People traveling on the Hong Kong Airlines business class mistake fare are getting a card when they board asking them to share photos on social media. Meanwhile the struggling carrier is ending service to New Zealand after pulling out of Australia last year.
- Air Canada passenger arrested in Fort Lauderdale after joking about having a bomb.
- Still stranded Will Norwegian ever be allowed to bring parts into Iran to fix their 737 that had to divert?
- Vape pen caught fire in the overhead bin of a Delta LaGuardia – Houston flight prior to departure
I reside in Phoenix and this is not suprising. Phoenix is going to wind up as the next St.Louis even though our population is growing. We are unfortunately sandwiched between LAX and DFW which makes a PHX unecessary. PHX should concentrate on more flights to LAX and DFW. Also stunned that the PHX-LHR is going year round-don’t think that is going to last.
